I might suggest dropping an email to VOSA as well to let them know about unsafe cars being hired, certainly wouldnt pass an mot....wonder if it actually has one ?

There's no way i would have driven off in that either.

Could you not find anything else because no other company would hire you a car because you'd only just passed your test ? Or did you go with them because they were cheap ?

Not sure about cheap, the OP was paying £90 a day, out local car hire will do a brand new passat or similar for £50 a day
