How long should a pair of shoes last?

Also, you can tell a lot about a person by their shoes. More than their suit or clothes give away. Workwear is different of course, but in general...

One thing I would love is a pair of Duckers handmade shoes (although there's not much change from a grand and a half) - made precisely to your foot shape, they make a last of your foot so you can reorder or get different styles knowing they will fit, all leather, all superb quality. But a grand and a half. It does rather depend on the context of course - not ideal for working in B&Q!

I think considering the price paid and the job you work (I know I was very hard on my feet when I worked in retail!) it's not too surprising they're falling apart. I expect you should be able to get a refund from Asda however. It sucks that these shoes aren't made for purpose but I suppose they see it as fashion wear designed to be worn a couple of times before being chucked.

I bought a £12 pair of shoes from New Look once (they were reduced from £25 though). Despite having a chunky sole they fell apart in a couple of weeks. I work in an office, but I was walking a good half an hour to and from work and they simply weren't suitable.

If they don't refund/replace might be worth looking at Rocketdog- you can get them pretty cheap in the sales and on eBay but I find they last really well.

Personally I believe you get the best value for money from quality shoes bought in sales + discount codes.
I've never bought cheap quality shoes at full price, it just seems such a waste of money. Furthermore proper leather shoes are breathable and mould around your foot, being much more comfortable. As someone said you can tell what quality shoes people are wearing. It's like imitation UGGs, you can tell straight away when they are not the real thing, mainly because the sole is not as good, and they make you walk funny because the foot is not supported properly. It can't be good for your foot to be walking like that.

However this does not apply the OP, who bought what could afford at the time, btw well done for getting the job

I do bar work and on my feet all day too.

I brought a pair of ballet pumps from Tescos lasted about 2 months but shredded my feet so badly I could hardly walk in them.

I brought a pair from Clarks recently £35 (think their called Carnival Queen) and they are perfect look really nice and are so comfy plus they look good as new still.
