Good morning all,
Another one who didn't sleep too well. My back and neck(mainly back) have been playing up again. At least it saves me from going to shops, as it hurts when i drive. It's a long walk too!
Wm is on. Weather doesn't look that great though so it may have to go on the airer.
Daughter is now off to work. She works until 12. She wants to do some baking when she gets home. It will probably be buns and biscuits.
Hubby is at work so will watch F1 when we have had tea.
nlj, what a nighmare your sons neighbour is. I hope this situation gets sorted out.
I hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

I would, i just tend to use whatever i can find tbh. I'm a chuck it in and see kind of cook lol
Morning all, not posted on the daily thread for ages
Weather is miserable and drizzly again, hopefully it will fine up later as DH and my dad are doing something with a wall in the garden.
DH's turn for a lie in this morning so been up since 6.30am with DD2, lazy boy DS slept until 9am and DD1 stayed next door last night. I've put a spicy tomato and lentil soup in the slow cooker, washing machine on and done the dishes (dishwasher broken).
Planning to go through all of our wardrobes today to see if there's anything to put on ebay, i know the kids have got stuff from last year that won't fit them this autumn so hopefully make a few pennies towards new stuff for DD1, the other 2 are sorted thanks to ebay, charity shops and car bootsNever seem to find much for DD1.
Going to make a potato bake for tea, will have sausages and greens with it. No time for a roast this weekend! DH painted the walls in DD1's room yesterday and he'll be getting on with painting the fitted wardrobes today if he doesn't manage to get out into the garden.
I adore our new home, we've been here nearly 3 months and i'm so, so happy. I really believe that the old house made my depression worseso many problems and no way of sorting them. The kids have settled in fantastically, there are others their age to play with and they've been in and out all summer holidays
We're so lucky
DH and I are also getting on better, really trying to make things right between us as we lost our way for a while and almost split up but we're doing ok now.
I'm looking forward to getting the kids back to school and in a routine (even though i cry everytime i think of DS in a uniform), i find meal planning/shopping/cleaning/budgetting loads easier in term time.
Sorry for waffling on there! Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend

Thanks lilmisskitkat
I'm a chuck it in cook normally too, but never made shepherds pie before! I'm off to Aldi shortly, if they have can of lentils I''ll buy one, otherwise I'll use mixed beans. Glad you are settled in your new home.

Morning all,
Drizzle here, I have our bedding in the wm, but it will have to go on the airer today.
Need to do the final coat on the skirting today, and prime, undercoat and topcoat the door frame, there are also a few little bits which need touching up, so might do them today, alternatively I might do none of this,I need to pop to Lidl for washing powder and tinfoil, so I might just have a look around home sense / John Lewis
we need a curtain pole, so might have a look there
Dinner tonight is the rest of the chicken from yesterday with roasted garlic new potatoes and veg.
I LOVED Dr Who too :T so glad its back, the girl who turned out to be a dalek, is supposed to be his new travelling companion, so dont know how thats going to work ??
Flutterby, I would shove some in anyway x
Nlj I am so cross on your behalf  thank god that man is not a reflection on most of society, have a great holiday x

Morning all, been up far too long and the drains outside are totally stinky! The smell collects in the house so you have to open the window and then it blows in fresh from there too. Time to get the man out again, this rain plays havoc with the old drains here. I'm thinking me and the hose might have the cover up and get the bleach out...or I might just leave it to the BG man. Wonder when he'll be able to come though?
I was going to do laundry but it won't dry so I have to decide if it's worth A) Running the tumble drierPutting the heating on so I can put it on the radiators. The problem is, I have Phantom and the baby in the shed (chicken and chick) and they'll get a sauna if I run the drier. decisions, decisions.
Anyway, feel a bit whingy and whiney today so I'm done writing for now, lol, just going to slink off and do some work somewhere, that always makes you feel better.
Have good days folks.

Morning everyone
Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x
Cloudy, dull and overcast, and now raining here this morning,
We were reasonably productive yesterday, took the items to our friends so our loft has lots more space in it. Made us egg and bacon sarnies when we got back from delivering items to our friends. Tackled the pile of ironing, DH made a start on the loft.
We had HM chicken curry, rice, naans, poppadums for dinner with a glass or 2 of wine, very nice.
Today DH has taken the boys to collect his van for work tomorrow and he'll call in on his parents whilst he's out as they live near his work. I've had a bath and then pottered about getting lunch ready, we're having roast chicken, roasties, mash, cauli/brocc cheese, carrots, spring greens, yorkshires, stuffing and gravy - really looking forward to it as it seems ages since we've had cauli/brocc cheese - and have sorted the dining room table we'll be eating there - so table already laid. Hoping to get lunch on the table before F1 starts - well that's the plan!!
It's DH bday tomorrow, we don't buy for each other as we generally have what we want through the year as we need it. We will be having smoked sausage pasta, may make a bday cake later or buy a choc gateau - it's his fav! We're going to a friends wedding in a couple of weeks and their reception is being held at our most favourite hotel so we've booked a room and will stay in hotel - as it's our wedding anniversary on Weds too, so we usually have some kind of joint celebration around this time of year! Don't really know why we celebrate really as it's not been a match made in heaven and he's incredibly hard work most of the time and I have had more than enough real reasons to leave but have stayed as once children are involved it's always much more difficult and I genuinely believe once you have children with someone they have to be part of your life whether you like it or not. Having said that he is much better now than he used to be - he got a short sharp shock after I left with our eldest one day many years ago and he was under the impression I was in the wrong and his own parents, friends and his Solcitior told him a few home truths!!
The sun has just appeared maybe today won't be such a wash out after all.
Have a good day, stay safe and well x

HI, hope I can join in...I have just joined the prepping thread for when the SHTF...and thought some of my thoughts were more OS money saving so will split the info into the right threads.
I live in Greece and have been living OS style for the last couple of years. The austerity measures are biting deep so I have to save money on food and other things in order to pay my taxes. I want to sell up the big old house and leave or rent....but can't do that unless all the taxes are paid. Even though I pay tax on income in the UK I am also getting taxed here. I know that is not right but till I can fight it I have to pay it or my electric will be cut off and my property seized...they can do it now for owing just 300 euros...
so have cut down all my bills, have energy saving bulbs in all lights and do not use electric unless I have to. Have stopped all spending on luxuries as its needed for fuel for my scooter (another money saving device lol) and food. I am clearing my clutter and selling it bit by bit or giving it away to people who need the stuff more than I do. Most of my light washing is done with cold water in the machine...and it actually gets my clothes cleaner and they last longer. I only hot wash things like bedding and towels and undies.
Have just cooked a duck (it was cheaper than chicken lol) and made some oven mediterranean garlic veggies in the bottom of the oven at the same time. I sold my big cooker and bought a table top one that is cheaper to run and saves on fuel as well as its smaller in size.. If there are any leftovers I will freeze the good bits and make soup out of the rest.
Having an easy day at home today and doing some chores around the house. Trying to think of more OS thrift things to do during the winter, which is going to be a hard one. Already stocked up on heating oil as its going to be the same price as road diesel this year 1.65 a litre. will be ordering olive wood for the fire as soon as its available and will collect pine cones and kindling to store for the winter months. Other than that we will use the electric blanket and not heat other rooms than the one with the open fire. We can also cook on that fire to save fuel.“The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. When in a state of security he does not forget the possibility of ruin.” Confucius (551 BC - 479 BC):A0
