You are comparing a phone which is a year old (4s) with a new phone which is only out for a couple of month.
If you can wait another 2 weeks, it is likely that the new Iphone will be announced on September 12th and then you can compare 2 new phones. (Iphone and Samsung)
Although I would not move away from Apple, in this case it is fair to say that the S3 is the better phone, simply because it has better specs, but again: The iphone 4s is a year older and a year for mobile phones is nearly an eternety.
Howver, it is your decision and your decision only! You need to decide what you need. Its not fair for me to say you have to buy an iphone because I love it and it goes along with my Apple TV, Ipad and Imac to come, but your situation might be completly different...
But please do not choose the S3 because you dont like Apple like many people say. It always comes across as Apple is the only compnay in the world taking money from you and its oh so bad to have a high share price etc. Samsung only wants your money as well
Use an open mind, go into the shop and see what you like. Speak to your friends and see what they use as u can use features together...
Oh... and before anyone talks about Flash: Many, many webpages are accomodating their webpages to make them accessable for iOS.0 -

Using the same logic perhaps you shouldn't wear underwear as its "very common"? How about buying a phone for your OWN needs instead of letting others dictate?0 -
No, it is not 'the same logic' as it isn't underwear.baby_frogmella wrote: »Using the same logic perhaps you shouldn't wear underwear as its "very common"? How about buying a phone for your OWN needs instead of letting others dictate?
It would be the same if you wouldn't wear the same, say, jacket (shoes/glasses/...), that every third person wears and that is produced in three colours only.0 -

You are correct, and I purposely didn't try and sway the thread into a model A vs model B argument which became tiresome on this board, the other date for the IP5 is Sept 21st, but iOS6 will give an idea of what the ip5 may feature. The whole idea of this is better than that because lots of people say so, is foolish in the user device world, then you get the silly petty debates about ease of use (unmeasurable) and malware (yet nobody seems to have experienced it directly) .
On a side note Sony seem to be letting themselves down of late, the Acro S would have been sweet, the Xperia V would have been an obvious winner, but neither appear to be coming to the UK

I would not have bothered so nothing lost for me
Seriously, there are lots of brilliant phone and I tend to agree that some Sony phones have great potential, but it all comes down to what each individual needs.
We all have different needs, expectations of a mobile phone and as much as I appriciate people asking those questions, apaprt from answering the obvious questions there is nothing much we can do.
Though there are some pet hates like comparing the 4s with the S3, which simply doesnt work! In fact you can argue that the 4s is a upgrade (although a good upgrade) of the IP4 so people are comparing a phone from technical different generations and thats plain stupid.
Think about it: If an S4 would come out end of 2012 it obviously would be better than an S3 from May....0 -

Yep, it seems from the OP's comments he has already made his mind up, and his choice is more technically advanced, but as you say since the mfrs adopt a policy of continuous improvement, then one can be forever chasing their tails in search of the latest and greatest

If I was you I will wait 2 weeks for iPhone 5 at least to find out more.
I perfer iPhone because
The iOS is easy to use without hardly any reported malware problems
With the Android OS including Samsung S3 far too many users have installed the malware apps and end up paying ££ without their knowledge. If you go for S3 make sure you know how to protect your phone from malware. Search the Google for Android malware if you need further information
Or see the link below.

The os update on Android are very slow to release.
Also look at the smartphone reliability by companies in case if something was to go wrong.

You will be using the phone for two years not others so play with both in a shop, check the size and see which one you are happy with.0 -

1) You are not the OP
2) We are not sure the IP5 will be launched in two weeks although yes he should wait if he is going to be tied in for 24 months
3) Every phone is easy to use, there is nothing easier on one handset than another
3b) You or anybody you know is not affected by malware
4) He should try both, but a quick play in the store is not really going to set him up for long term useage, he will be happy with either unit and may not suffer any of the biased problems that you search links for.
5) Updates are once per year, the iOS 6 was announced months back and only has to fit one brand. Jelly bean is already being talked about, but current OS work just fine.
Trouble with Samsung and Apple is they are both sour grapes suing each other, let the consumer decide eh?0 -
Oh no, tgm is back. I was enjoying this forum over the last few weeks. Now it looks like we're back to "the bad old days".
