Yes, the Android fanboys will pop-up to cover anything negative.
Android fanboys need to get the life, many others use phones other then Android.

So far all 'android fanboys' were pretty neutral in this thread - until the iPhone fanboy came with his usual agenda and with the piles of negative that he spends his life on selective digging out.
  • wow very interesting comment. It seems like the most clever thing to do will be to wait until the Iphone 5 comes out and make a decision then....Does anyone know how much money i will have to pay on top of my upgarde to get the Iphone 5?
  • @thegoodman thank you for your information that was something i was not aware of.

Nobody can answer that as the IP5 has not been released, on top of that, chances are the 'top line' handsets are often for new customer only and not upgraders, you will soon learn what your loyalty counts for when you come to upgrade, stay realistic and you won't be dissapointed

See how much the Iphone 4s is now. Usually Apple does not change prices when upgrading modells.

I seem to remember that the 4s was 99 quid on orange with a 2y contract and 36 quid per months covering everything.

I would expect a new phone to be in a similar region.

Please note One i am not saying everything in the Android garden is perfect and Two The Goodman only exists to rubbish Android and will search the web for pages to display his negative results . No positives ever and if their are Two Million posts complains about Android and a hundred million complaining about the same problem on IPhone guess which does not get published .

Personally i would wait and see what the IPhone brings before deciding anything this close to launch of a new phone .

I have just been reading an article on the Apple suing debacle, even Apple admit the samsung is 'better' one of the key witness's thought they were using an iphone when indeed it was a Samsung, the article reads
    "
apple_samsung_1_contenthalfwidth.jpgWhile everyone is going crazy about Apple's billion dollar patent victory over Samsung, the psychological effect on consumers has been ignored.
Several times throughout the case, the same point was driven home: The Android phone is identical to, and perhaps better than, the iPhone. This "revelation," which Android users have always known, will easily cost Apple more than a billion dollars in sales.
Much of this case revolved around the fact that Samsung obviously copied certain icons already used by Apple. The most blatant is the white phone on the green background which indicates that you want to bring up the keypad or initiate the actual call.
My Galaxy Nexus shows a blue phone on a transparent background.
Locking itself to the Apple icon was arbitrary, but it was Apple's idea first. Nokia or Motorola should have patented the colour green to indicate the dialler and red to indicate the disconnect button. Both companies would be in trouble, but why dwell on opportunities lost? Green and red stem from stop and go traffic signals, which are also arbitrary. Someone could have patented that and everyone would be in trouble.
Do you see how stupid the current patent system is? But I digress.

The white handset icon set against a green background is a critical part in fully understanding how similar the Samsung phone is to the iPhone. In fact, Apple designer Susan Kare actually testified that when she was playing with the Samsung phone, she swore it was an Apple iPhone! Her testimony was quite convincing. It convinced millions of people that for less money, they can get an iPhone by buying Samsung's phone. Genius! But it gets worse.
Apple made a big deal about its patents on the bezel, the angles of the corner curves, and other designs it apparently patented. People in general reacted with astonishment that anyone could get a patent for a curve, or straight line, or flat surface.
This sent two messages through the brains of consumers: Firstly, this is an idiotic patent and Apple is grasping at straws. And secondly, that the company is spending too much time on minutiae rather than actual functionality.
And now, go back and compare Samsung's calling icon with Apple's. The Samsung art for the handset is better than Apple's simplistic art. Samsung's just looks more modern. I'm sure this is one of the reasons Susan Kare confused the Android phone with the Apple phone, as she assumed the slicker version of the exact same phone would be Apple, by default.
This is a disaster for Apple no matter what Samsung does to its interface and its rounded corners. The case and its results, because of Apple testimonies, make it sound as if Apple was suing because a better product evolved.
Will the public stick with the iPhone just to be loyal to the creator of the modern smartphone concepts? In a down economy where every penny counts, it's doubtful. Samsung is not only a cheaper alternative but has many more models. Combine this with the scandals at Foxconn, Apple's manufacturer, and Apple is in trouble.
Keep in mind that Samsung makes many of the iPhone components, including the custom CPU, and Samsung has not even begun to leverage that sort of information.
I consider this situation to be dire for Apple. When the iPhone 5 arrives shortly, it will be crunch time for the company. If this is the end of the line for the iPhone, you can point to this lawsuit as the tipping point. It may be the last important iPhone.
I'm reminded of how the little-known MP3 gained popularity when the RIAA filed various lawsuits. Apple may have pulled a similar stunt by alerting the public to the fact that the Samsung phone is the exact same thing as an iPhone, or better.
    A billion dollars well spent.
  • i would just like to say thank you all for your comments as they have all been helpful positive and negative. As a result i think at this stage i would be silly to not wait until IP5 comes out.

I will also be thanking everyone for the help! so thank posts back!:)

Also look at the smartphone reliability by companies in case if something was to go wrong.
    http://www.pcworld.com/article/244607/smartphone_reliability_and_satisfaction_iphone_tops_the_list.html

That's the worst "consumer information" article I've ever seen.
Using "better than / average / worse than" is a crass system.

    e.g Satisfaction Rating : Manuf 1 100%; Manuf 2 100%; Manu 3; 99%; Manuf 4 99%; Manuf 5 98%.

So Manuf 5 with 98% satisfaction is actually significantly worse than average; is ranked 5th out of 5; "Came bottom".

    But it's still got 98%.

It also suffers from expectation issues.

eg. Many iPhone users will be used to the effect smart phones have on battery life, so they will be satisfied with charging every 1/2 days. Many android users are likely to have moved from non-smartphones, and will have been used to charging every 4/5 days; hence they may well be less satisfied.

The same effect occurs with ease-of-use, with more iPohne users having used an iphone, than android users having used an adroid phone from the same manufacturer with the same android implementation.

Effectively, as a survey to support a choice to have a GalaxyS3 or an iPhone, for someone who has used neither apple nor android, it's next to useless.
