Supplier cashbacks are often paid as late as 90 days from going on supply, and usually in the form of a credit against your first quarterly bill. They certainly won't pay as soon as you go on supply, for obvious reasons.

Okay thank you, so you are telling me the other £40 will come from Scottish Power themselves? as i said, i have already received £30 today from Moneysavingexpert into my bank, i assumed the whole amount came from them.

I have no idea, what did MSM tell you when you signed up for that deal? Cashbacks can come from either source.
The only other possible explanation is that it is split £40/£30 between the 2 fuels and you will receive the other £40 in due course when the other fuel switches?
Your best source of info is to contact MSM.

I switched this morning - I only switched to Online Energy Saver 20 about a month ago and the prices in the fixed deal are about 4% higher, but that will be more than wiped out by one increase so I'm happy. I must say Scottish Power has been very helpful on the phone for both switches, good customer service. Incidentally, despite (probably) being withdrawn today, the tariff is not on their internal systems yet so the request has to be "queued".

Ok I have taken the plunge and signed up to switch to Scottish Power. I have opted to go for the longer option of fixed until Oct 2014.....

It's a gamble but hopefully given my high usage, one that will pay off. I can only see prices going up and a 9% hike at anytime in the next 12 months will leave me well in pocket.

The biggest worry is the way they seem to calculate their monthly payments from what I can see. I spoke to a representative today and they advised that after 3 months they will reassess my payments and then every 3 months after that. The big worry for me is this is going to be the 6 months that accounts for at least 2/3 of my annual use. So I might be fighting to keep them in check with their payment assessment come the end of winter but that bridge can be crossed then.

At least I can use my spreadsheet for checking my usage against the payments and make sure I know I am on track.

I've received 2 payments into my bank account today after my switch to Scottish Power. Both are from Moneysupermarket. One is for £40 and the other for £30. So this seems to have gone ok. I guess those who have received just the £30 will get the additional payment quite quickly. The odd thing about this is, I have only just gone onto the new supply, about a week ago.
