Cash machine never gave me my money :(

When I worked in a bank, I used to do the checks on the cash machine. It had a register that showed when it had attempted to dispend money but failed, for example because it got stuck in the machine. Normally it would already have refunded it back to the customer's account, but if not, you could compare the times with that in the log (that shows who tried to get what amount at what time) and work it back.
If your money hasn't been refunded, the branch should help you. There is enough information tracked by the machine to verify you claim and refund you the money.0 -
Just wondering how you got on? I hope its all resolved now for you and you have your £250 back.

Never ever leave the cash mashine if something unexpected happens. There is a number on the cash mashine, use it.0

You have to go to your own bank, nothing to do with the bank whose cash machine it is. Most machines are only balance once a week, not daily so Op will have to wait until its been done
The bank I worked in balanced their machines daily, and if a person came in to report that cash had not been dispensed they were asked to fill in a form.
When a Nationwide cash machine didnt issue my money I had to contact my own bank so it must depend on the bank.0 -
i popped into tsb today and they told me they checked the machine and the money had got jammed on its way out, so now just waiting on barclays to put it back into my account

Word of warning if this happens to people... technically you're entitled to your money back but if you've used a bank that's not your own, the buck will be passed between the owners of the machine and your own bank. Both might insist the other compensates you.
If you're really paranoid (let's face it - this kind of thing rarely happens) then always use your own bank's machines to withdraw money."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0
