The person should have taken your details and when they balance the machine at the end of the day they would know if the money had not been issued.

If the balance has gone down in your account by the same amount you were supposed to have withdrawn then I would ring customer services.
  • i bank with barclays and co op, i used my barclays card in a tsb machine (link, so any bank can use it), i also tried my co op card to see if it'd work and it just said it could not carry out the transaction.

You have to go to your own bank, nothing to do with the bank whose cash machine it is. Most machines are only balance once a week, not daily so Op will have to wait until its been done

This happened to me a few years ago and took 10 days to sort out. I hardly use ATM machines now or carry cash around. I just use the card for that account to pay for things in stores. Far simpler. Hope it all gets put right for you OP.

I've never had this done to me, but just reading this thread makes even more sense to me now why I never really have cash on me, I use my card for pretty much everything, and keep some change on me. I think if I was to draw out a large sum of cash out now, I would do so over the counter!

If you don't get it back, don't give up. Make an absolute nuisance of yourself until they have to do something. I worked in a building society and a bank and those who complained the loudest got sorted, believe me.

The same thing happened to me a couple of months ago, I was going out for the day and stopped off to withdraw £100, it let me enter my pin etc went all through the process but gave me no money.

It was a Sunday and the bank was closed, the lady behind me also tried and it did the same with her. We exchanged telephone numbers in case we had any problems.

I went straight home and logged onto my online banking and I then rang my bank to advise what had happened. I was told that if the cash machine runs out of money then it does let you go through the whole process,. Luckily the transaction was not registered on my account so it was a case that it had just ran out of money.

Are there cctv camera's at the machine because they could look at the footage and see you did not receive any money. I wouldn't let this drop, no-one can afford to lose £250 and I hope it gets resolved for you soon.

  • oh i wont let it drop, i couldnt use my own bank to draw the money out as they've closed the local one, it's a busy high street so there is prob cctv but i'm not 100% sure. I'm gonna ring 1st thing on Monday and see whats what so far.
