Cash machine never gave me my money :(

As the title said.
I used a TSB machine yesterday to withdraw my weekly shopping money and to get the last few bits of school clothes in, so £250. Did all the usual, machine says take your card, i did, take your money, no money comes out. I made my sister wait at the machine and tell people not to use it while i went inside and the clerk checked and said from his end the transaction had been completed.......my purse says otherwise!
I went back out, tried a co-op card to withdraw a tenner and it said it couldnt carry out the transaction, a lady went after me and the machine swallowed her card.
I went to Barclays and they did me a 'disclaimer'?? and said to wait and hear from them......
I cant afford to wait, i needed that money there and then and i still need it now.
Anyone have similar happen and how long did it take to sort out?
Skint, but happy (ish):p

This happened to me a few years ago, I think it was for £30. I went inside, told them and they took details (name address etc) I had to wait for them to check whatever they check, and I think it took a few days. I know it wasn't the same day though. I suppose they have to check all transactions for that day to find out if they have £200 over, and they won't do that until close of business.

Are you sure the machine hadnt been tampered with to make it look like oyu where carrying out a normal transaction when infact you where having all your card/ pin details cloned?
    Ant.
  • well if it was there'd be nothing left to take and i dont have an overdraft so they'd of picked the wrong person to try pinching off. Nothing goes in that account, it's just what i transfer over for shopping and bits and bobs.

You wouldnt have been able to take any more out cos the daily limit is normally 250. It depends when they balance the machine as to when you'll get it back, can be up to 10 days afaik
  • it's just bloomin frustrating cos i'm having to dip into bill money now to get my shopping and the school gear and then i just hope i get it back before my bills are all due out, grrrr, and to think the screen had a tsb advert on saying something like, this is a trusted machine!!!!

Morning try not to worry this happened to me and after a phone call to the bank giving details such as the location, time and what happened they contacted the relevant bank and after a daily total being calculated they quickly re-credited my account. Hope this helps

  • TSB did say they only balance their machine once a week, not daily, so i'm hoping as the machine started swallowing cards they might of done it last night.

Did the clerk actually check the machine for any signs of tampering like a cash trap? Or just look at their computer system? x
You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

  • just looked at a computer, he never came outside, there was a big queue for the machine and the lady in front seemed to get her money......i'm hoping it was just a glitch.
