  • thanks, yep we are near rayleigh.

How do i post a pic?
  • Slightly worried that Kitty is pregnant...any sure fire ways of finding out without paying a huge vet bill!
She has a very round, and hard belly !
  • Ring up that low cost vet that poster above has mentioned or ring up the cats protection and ask them if they can help.
Unfortunatley vet care can be expensive so you really need to decide if your taking it on and then get it insured if your not in receipt of benefits.
If you cant keep it-then a local animal shelter may have it.Also ask friends, family and work colleagues as often there is someone wanting a cat. Good luck.

Check her nipples. One of the early signs is that they turn pick (and then enlarge). Would've thought the vet should pick up on this if she was pregnant tho'.
  • Well vet felt her stoamch when we took her in, and when they called with her Aids test results I did ask could they check if she was preggers, but they said they would have to do an ultrasound which would cost ££.
Her nipples are still quite small.....

Oops!, meant to say one of the first signs is that the nipples turn pink! They enlarge later. Has she been wormed?
  • She was wormed at the vet on Tuesday

If they can't feel kittens she isn't far on, so the round hard belly is probably not an indication of pregnancy. AFAIK there is nothing you can do but wait and see if she comes into season. If you can keep her indoors so much the better, if she is not 'done' and not yet pregnant she won't get caught.

It's not AIDS it's FIV infection they tested for. FAIDS is the progression of the infection to actual illness but doesn't always occur.

  • Good on you for helping this poor little cat :)

Not sure where abouts you are in the UK but if you have an easipetcare near you they do very cheap vaccination clincs - £10 for the flu & enteritis or £20 for flu, enteritis & leukaemia initial courses (this covers both jabs, three weeks apart).

Boosters for already vaccinated cats are £11.25 for flu&enteritis and £15 for flu, enteritis&leukaemia.

Spookylukey THANK YOU so much for this fab link! I took all three of my animals to the vaccine clinic today and had them all vaccinated for £50, which would have cost me around £150 at my usual vet!! I'm going to book the cats in for dentals with them too, so thank you so much!!

Edit: Sorry to hijack the thread, was just so thrilled to have saved so much money I had to say thanks!
  • Can you get her spayed? Not a nice thought, but nor is another unknown number of kittens competing for a small number of homes?
