I've definately got one too. A couple of years ago I got rid of one by using chocolate in a trap, but this one is not falling for it. Might have to go back to good old cheese.
  • Ok, so I miss read thinking you said lice, hence the idea of setting traps seemed a bit odd.

Mice arent that uncommon, we had a kitchen fire caused by a mouse chewing through the electrical cable for our oven and fried itself.

You really need to find how they're getting in and block it off. Traps will deal with any that are already in if they aren't leaving but arent a long term solution without blocking their entry point. Personally prefer traps to poison for a number of reasons inc having to find where the dead bodies may be.

Theres nothing more satisfying than setting a couple of mousetraps in the loft and hearing them go off just after you have gone to bed.
  • You've got to find out where they're getting in and block that off. A neighbour used wire-wool and expanding foam. Any space that's big enough to allow a biro through it is big enough for a mouse to get in. If you've only got one at the moment it's only a matter of time before you can trap it.

Meanwhile if chocolate in the traps isn't working try some peanut butter.

I had one about a month ago. Caught it using a humane trap and peanut butter. Took a while but once I found out where it was living I caught it within a few hours.
  • Thank you everyone.
Hubby and I have pulled the dishwasher and fridge freezer out again (all the same wall as the cupboard ) and there is a couple of droppings and I mean we have found 20 max all over the kitchen. We've cleaned using dettol (thanks for the tip re bleach, I do use a lot of it) and have put poison behind the fridge, in the cuboard where my tins are and under the back door where we think they are coming in, we have then blocked that up using bricks!!!!
We have also got 2 little nipper inhumane traps (my eldest son is mortified that we are killing them!!!!) one is going in the cupboard, the other behind the fridge i think .

Now all I need to do, is put my house on the market and move out!!! Or make a reservation at a posh hotel till all this is sorted lol

    Thanks again everyone x

You can also get plug in devices which emit a high pitched noise to send them away out of the house. It works pretty well as long as you don't have other pets.

We only solved the mouse problem when we got cats though.

Good luck with getting rid of them
