Easiest way of getting rid is to trap them. And make sure you block up any entry routes - how did they get in in the first place?

Yes, we had them, and they are really bad. I stayed up all night with a loaded high powered air rifle, and started to fall asleep with it pointing at an open kitchen cupboard.
They did of course stay away that night:eek:

We have a rat in the garden. I was going to shoot it but my wife started calling him Ratty and after that I didn't have the heart. I suspect he is living on borrowed time though, as the neighbours' cats have started showing an interest.

You can also get plug in devices which emit a high pitched noise to send them away out of the house. It works pretty well as long as you don't have other pets.

Hmmmm... I have three. One is a (supposedly) very sophisticated top of the range model. I have seen mice stand three feet in front of it and look at me before ambling off unconcerned.

IMHO they are a complete waste of money. :(
  • Find out where they/it's living and then a traditional trap. Nothing else works. They are vile, unpleasant, vermin who bear no resemblence to a pet. You probably wouldn't think twice about killing a spider or a woodlouse or a wasp.

I feel for you I really do, they are cute but they terrify me, we had one at my mums one xmas, luckily caught it before it chewed through the xmas tree lights and found THE tiniest hole it had come through, smaller than a 5p! Now the cat regularly fetches them in and sets them free, the old wooden traps are the best with either a little bread or chocolate on (I buy them from the local hardware shop for less than a pound), never waited more than an hour to hear it snap (poor little mites, but they're too creepy)

    Good Luck x x

  • Well I am beginning t think this little sod is part of a super mice league.... The clever little thing hasn't eaten the poison, or at least not a lot of it but has eaten the maltessers on the traditional trap without getting caught!!!

Don't give up!!! Don't put anything loose on the trap. Smear some cheap chocolate spread, or go for the nutella if you think he's fussy, make it nice and sticky and then stick the malteser or some other delicacy to it.

I wouldn't use poison. I just think traps are instant and secondly the thought of a dead mouse rotting away somewhere makes me feel rather ill. Especially if you have floorboards as I have. You may never be able to get to it.

    Good luck - report back
