The Mortgage Free in Three - Take 3 challenge (MFiT-T3)

Thanks for all the thoughts about the holidays. We don't have kids, just us and two cats.
DH is exceptionally fussy and will only go to Kuoni type hotels or very nice cruises with a balcony and it has to be two weeks. Last year we got a good deal on a 10 day cruise around Italy and all in was about £3k so it might be 3 not 4k. He is happy to get a nice cottage in the UK and we don't mind cooking and we are National Trust members and keen walkers so days out are quite cheap. DH has adapted to the MSE way slowly and holidays are the one thing that he is fussy about. We have no debt, plenty of savings and only one car and he hardly eats meat or drinks much, we have a meal out once in a blue moon and our weekends away are deals at Premier Inn with Leisure Vouchers from surveys. Apart from a knock down Sky deal and the two cats we aren't very extravagant and live well within our means.
We had a depressing Sunday night as loads listed on Ebay and no takers so will re list this week. We ordered the tiles for our kitchen tonight so £200 on the cash back card.
When is the first update 12/3/13? That reminds me, I need to write and find out how much our 10% will be when the year resets from the last major payment in May. DH will not be happy if we fined for paying off a debtDebt Free - done

Shinehappy - it sounds to me like you are very sensible and focused. You deserve to have a lovely holiday, it's not as though you are having to put it on a CC. Just enjoy it and do whatever takes your fancy....0

Yesterday, for the first time, I met up with an MSE buddy - TallGirl and I had a lovely cup of coffee looking at the sea, and talked all manner of MSE gubbins - really nice to meet you, TallGirl!Mortgage Free thanks to ill-health retirement0

A big risk for me. Just bought £2500 of € online for the big holiday we are planning this summer after seeing the Italian election results. So our overpayments are going to be very limited this quarter as that was the "pot" I raided. The rate for sterling was dropping quickly on Monday (1% in a day) so I checked last night and did it as the rate was back to the pre triple A credit rating. We'll see if it pays off.
SLSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £9586.01 out of £6000 after August (158.45%)
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £2226.88/£3000 or 74.23% of my annual spend so far

Well this is a touch embarrassing. A "no-show" for ages.
I've been stupidly busy - life thrown a few things at me etc, nothing that wasn't too much of a problem, but a distraction all the same!
Main issue for this challenge was a line fault on my home line, thus the broadband was dog slow / dropping etc. That's now been resolved, so I'm going to make an effort to get everything up to date by the end of the week.
Thanks for not slating me (or perhaps that's a few pages back and I've not read it yet)...
I actually attempted to post something at the end of last week, think I previewed the post and then got distracted and never got around to submitting it.

Think you may have accidentally posted it somewhere else - try Earthgirls diary i think?
I jolly well hope no-one slates you for being MIA, presumably you do have a life away from MSE!

g/l allA positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0
