this is the Daily Thread for 31th August. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in,put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, soplease don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all:j:j
Very chilly here today.
Only me up. I'm just on my first cup of coffee.
Very chilly here this morning. Its getting like Autumn! But we have not had our summer yet!
Also I noticed last night that at 8:20pm It was dark! So the nights are closing In!
Today Is the last official day of summer:eek:
I think this year has been the wettest since 1910:eek:
Today Iv got to be at my wife's Nan's house for 9:00am Iv got some gardening to do for her.
Then I'm meeting my wife In town to get a bit of shopping done. We don't need a great deal but will pick some things up today and tomorrow.
This afternoon. If It's dry then I will clean out some more of the shed. Both of our shed need a tidy up. Its not that there is a lot of stuff to get shot of out of them, Its more that when things are taken out they seem to just get shoved back In in any old way.
Lunch will be sort of salad for all four of us.
My wife is In charge of dinner tonight.
Well I hope that you all have a grate day
Enjoy:j:j:jYou can have everything you wont in lfe, If you only help enough other people to get what they wont.:j0 -

im the only one up at the moment which i quite enjoy , having a cuppa and surfing in peace
need to get a fair amount of washing done today, but i havent seen the weather forecast so hoping its going to stay dry
going out later to a 60th birthday, dont really want to go as i have an upset tummy but i think i ought to
DD1s room is almost finished now, all the decorating is done and i bought her some new curtains , i made a cover for the window seat and surprisingly it came out really well as i am not known for my sewing abilities
DD bought a long mirror to go on the wall so that needs putting up and her tele needs to go back on the wall . then its just bits and bobs to do, shame shes moving out in 3 weeks to go to uni( still i shall sleep in there to escape DHs night time cacophony)
hope everyone has a lovely day xx0 -
Morning to all, and blooming heck its chilly outside!
Off in to town today to get kids sorted for school and a few bits for youngest as he has shot up in height .
So far have washing in the machine and put some out side to dry. Kids wanted home made Chinese tonight so need to get a bag of raw prawn crackers in town.
Have a great day everyone.0 -
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x
Bright sunny but a really chilly nip in the air here this morning, but forecast says a dry sunny day. DH up and off to work stupid early.
Dinner last night was beef and chicken stew, had lots of mixtures in it, all bits that needed using up, served it with new pots, HG green beans, carrots and peas. Went to the hospital for DS2's eye appointment and he's been discharged, they can't operate and the condition isn't likely to change, so I'm pleased we don't have to go anymore but know the back-up help is there should we need it. I was very lazy yesterday, spent quite a while on pc, and reading, should really have been more productive but was in a real cba mood, need to get a grip today and get some chores etc done. Having said that I did get the dining room table pretty much cleared and named the boys new uniform. First load of washing ready to go on line in a mo, next load in WM as we speak. I will go to town shortly, visit the bank, and do a few errands before going on to the SM to do the weekly shop. I will do a menu plan before I leave as I have several bits in the freezer that need using up so will try to incorporate them in the menu. Will also endeavour today to put the hoover round and get what ironing there is done. Will purchase something for dinner that doesn't take too much work - I like Friday night's to be an easy night!
Have a good day, stay safe and well x

Morning all, my friend and her daughters are going home today, so today will be a day of washing (again!!) and cleaning as tomorrow we are having a couple of days away before the boys go back to school. Hope the sunshine stays here! I have sorted school uniform and am ready for the back to school run!
Dyed hair last night! Not to be done after a glass of wine!!! only left it on for 20 mins and its VERY red (I was dark brown with grey strands and grown out blonde highlights!!) A new autumn look maybe! Have a good day all xMe, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -
Hi Guys!
The nurses have been and gone and its blooming freezing today.
I have my helper here this morning, so she'll be doing all the jobs I can't do and topping up my medication and helping me have a shower. OH has a lot of work on today, so he'll be out in the office most the day I would of thought.
I need to rest as much as possible today as I have friend coming over later who's just separated from husband due to infidelity.
Hope everyone is ok.

:wave:Morning all , chilly here too. Just on my second cuppa and a couple of digestives, which I had to share with the pooches.
Need to clean the bathroom today, grrr (hate this job). Got to sort out the washing pile on the bed, wash hubby's jeans which he presented me with this morning and he needs for 2morrow night. Hope I can get them dry. Hoover and dust downstairs. Nip to PO and get a Wedding and Christening card from the shop.

Morning everyone
Brrrr chilly had to actually put fleece on under my waterproof jacket and feet were cold in my wellies. A touch of frost on the grass over local fields. I know this year has been a total wash out but I guess I've had 3 sunny days on a beach in Devon so that's my summer :rotfl: besides autumn means Christmas is only a hop, skip and a jump away :j:j:j
Plans today are crisis cleaning before friends and their kids come over along with some emergency twink baking as I don't have any biccies to offer round  haven't gone shopping yet since we've been back and we are out of nearly everything, fruit, fresh veg, cheese. Trying to last today so I can go early tomorrow. I "could" send H but he ends up buying extras or not the right things and I don't want to waste more money we don't have
No idea what's for tea but it needs to involve either the Remoska or the SC
anyone suggest anywhere for some cheap fleece blankets?
Hugs and spoons all round. XxxI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks
