Can employee be sacked for being a few minutes late?

I assume you didn't mean to write that?
That would be a charter for an employer to deliberately set the clock fast and then sack an employee he didn't like.
Swipe cards would record time as per firm computer systems; but, not a hand written time attendance sheet.
Totally agree as where I worked the clock in reception was 4 mins fast. If you got in to work at 8.57 you were marked in as late by the receptionist. Sometimes if she was on the phone when you walked in she would guess the time or whatever and since I used to keep my own records I knew some of these times were being made up. On some days when I said I didn't get in till 9.01 she had me being in at 8.50am or something. It proved not to be a good way of keeping a record.
I said to my boss I wouldn't tell you I was late if the company have me in on time. I am telling you (my boss) as a lot of the times are wrong.
They then decided to keep a record from the IT team as to when you logged on to your PC's and match the times up and if there was more than a 3 min difference it was flagged up.0 -

The CCTV camera recorded the employee arriving late, then leaving early, not a sheet. The timesheet that he filled in claimed he arrived on time and left on time which is the reason 'fraud' and 'gross misconduct' have come into play.
If it had been a discrepency between the employee's watch and the company clock the employee would have arrived at 8 mins past and also then left 8 mins late, not early.
It is absolutely the employee's responsibility to match their watch to the company clock. If you thought the company was 'fiddling the time' then you would put in a grievance. Anyway, it would be almost impossible to target one person, as every one would be late!"On behalf of teachers, I'd like to dedicate this award to Michael Gove and I mean dedicate in the Anglo Saxon sense which means insert roughly into the anus of." Arriving 8 minutes late... can happen to anybody.
Leaving 8 minutes late is a deliberate choice and action.
Misrepresenting hours worked on a timesheet is plain and simple fraud.0
