Misdelivered parcel, what do we do with it?- Yodel vent/warning

First a warning - Yodel are useless, never use them. We just had a parcel thrown over the gate, the delivery man didn't knock, and there was a 'Sorry I missed you' slip shoved through the door, not filled out except the date. The parcel is not for us, it's somewhere miles and miles way.
Secondly a vent - how can someone be so stupid as to not be able to read an address? The road name, postcode and town are very clear on the front of the parcel, they are not this address!
Third, what do we do with the parcel? There is no freephone or geographic number on the parcel, there is a freephone number on the missed delivery slip (which we can only assume relates to the parcel - we don't actually know it does) but it just leads to an automated system that says 'that number is not recognised' when I type in the number on the slip.

I'd use the above link (complaints) to tell them they have 3 weeks to arrange collection of the item or you will dispose of it (but not sure if that's actually allowed), obviously, collection of this item must be at a date/time completely convenient to you.Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.0 -

Send a letter to their registered address threatening that if you don't hear from them within 28 days, you will dispose of the parcel.

Why don't you contact the people that the parcel is addressed to ? I assume you have their name and address...0

Sorry, but that's a remarkably pathetic attitude to take.
What about the people who have paid for their parcel ? It's not their fault yodel are !!!!!.0 -

To be fair, the people who are waiting for the parcel will have some comeback when they realise it's not arrived and can probably get a refund (if it's something they bought). The issue might be if it's a private delivery (gift or something) but I doubt most people sending stuff privately would use Yodel (if they had any sense anyway!)
Although I agree that it would make more sense to send a note to the adressee (perhaps you can look up a phone number for them on 192 ) and inform them the parcel is at your place. They can then register a complaint and arrange for it to be picked up again. Although if I were them I'd probably jump in a car and pick it up myself rather than trust Yodel again.
Just out of interest OP, are you waiting for a parcel yourself? If so, is there a possibility that your parcel has also been misdelivered."So long and thanks for all the fish" :hello:0 -
Does sound like my 3 year old daughter could do a better job than Yodel of delivering parcels. There's been so many complaints and the one above involving throwing parcels over back gates was highlighted on Watchdog and yet they still do it! To top it off they only ever seem to put buffoons behind the wheel of their trucks. Anyone ever seen one driven well?0

I've had many successful Yodel deliveries (lots from eurocarparts.) When I've been here the driver has been friendly and polite and when not he has always been able to make a delivery to my neighbours.
Tbh from the many horror stories on the interwebs I was cautious to use the company - but I can say they definitely have at least one competent driver (and probably many more that people don't talk about on forums!)0 -
I know many people seem to have awful experiences with Yodel, but I have to agree with the anove poster- our local Yodel deliveries are actually pretty good, we had a delivery yesterday, delivery driver even helped lug the heavy box indoors and was pleasant, unlike Parcelfarse and APC and CItylink in our area , which are appalling and seem to employ miserable incompetents.0
