Lots of people were getting scammed with mobiles on Facebook - I mentioned to all the admins that maybe items over £40 should be paid for via Paypal. But this lead to a load of abuse from admin, so I blocked them.
Generally the people on the FB pages I go on are at-home Mums with limited incomes etc.0 -

I do worry about that quite a bit. There are warnings all over about taking paypal and using tracking etc but when warnings are made there are always though who shout the people down. It is not uncommon to be called a scaremonger for suggesting that paypal gift payments to a total stranger for a £300 iphone is a bad idea, apparently 'cos lik her mate Tracey did that and wen er fone dit arrive paypal gave her money back so yous telling lies, and sellers are gud and paypal are like wiked thives and make us pay money, so doing it like as a gift means you can give em the finger'
As for suggesting sellers should use tracking for the phones, beware they think you are 'aving a larf' as anyone wiv an once of sens nows if buyer dont ask for tracking then its nuffink to do with the seller if it gets lost- geddit'
The amount of people posting on the feedback pages about being scammed and being totally and absolutely susprised is astounding.

Soo- it's not an age thing, I really hate being called Hun, Hunni, babe or chick by someone I've never met. And the bad grammar and spelling really irks me too!
As you say, it's those who are adamant they are in the right and they "know their rights" are the worst- LOL!0 -
@Soo - Why am I not surprised? That's exactly why I was a bit worried about FB and buyer protection a few months ago, and I was shouted down for it.
As you say, cash and F2F only. There's just no protection and no guidance that doesn't suit the seller. I don't think I'd give someone on FB £300 for an item that would be posted when I wouldn't even pay £300 for something on eBay."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

I've almost given up selling on ebay, I've been selling on FB for a few months now.
I am thinking of calling my selling my page, I'm not called, hun, am not your m8 & don't do text speak.
However I think that would cut down the potential buyers too much.
I grit my teeth & try very hard to ignore it.0 -

Same here, I just keep smiling through gritted teeth and take the money- although I've just had someone cancel on me which is a bother as it was a popular item and now I have to re advertise it.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. The selling pages are very handy but can be a bit of a pain.
I think that the rule about selling to the first person who offers the asking price is stupid, what if you don't want to deal with them? I've had people acting like idiots on my post and thought, even if they offered the price I want, I wouldn't want to sell to them.
Of course you also get the sad ones who have nothing better to do than try to ruin ads, 'oh that TV is cheaper in Asda for £250.' Idiot hadn't read the post properly, the TV I was selling was Full HD and 3D, the Asda one just HD ready and not 3D.0 -
For entertainment value, it's cheaper than a TV license.
Most people seem to be genuine, ordinary people & then there's the few who were turned down by the Jeremy Kyle show.
Humanity in all its glory, warts & all.
I wonder how long it will be before FB start charging us to sell. Hopefully I'll have offloaded all my unwanted trash, oops, I mean treasure before that happens.0 -
I am hated on some of the FB selling pages for daring to point out that blinged baby dummies are a choking hazzard. Oh well, I guess Darwin was right. Population control has to happen some way. They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0

We are obviously twins seperated at birth then!
I got hate mail when I asked whether plastic beads on a knotted cord, or even 'Shamballa' type macrame with beads hanging from a dummy was a good idea.
The woman selling them got very nasty, apparently all her stuff is plastic so it is perfectly safe (?), and her bro works for the police and says it is fine (didn't get the police reference bit frankly)
some of the stuff sold on the selling pages is frankly outstanding, yet a got a warning from one site for listing vintage fish knives as they are dangerous..yet same site allows BB guns and crossbows...I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
