Help with hyperlinks on iPad

I have tried searching for this so hope someone here can help (in easy language please )

I've been given an iPad but I can't work out how to do hyperlinks/hypertext

I'm on my old laptop at the moment but what I want to be able to do is this

Open safari and in the address box type http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=58 or
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/
then use the box with the right facing arrow at the top and add a bookmark or add to home screen

So how do you do it on the laptop? Do exactly the same using Safari.

Ah with you, keep finger on the link and copy then come to your post press the world icon then press and hold and and paste as below http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=55498039&postcount=1 I did this on mine, and then came back to lappy and tidied it up:D

if I select words to make a link, when I click on the world icon to insert the link it unhighlights the word

Like this:

But no space between the last '/' and 'URL'.

done on an iPad - Zoopla

Copy URL, highlight text, drag text window (without closing keyboard) to bring world icon into view, paste URL into URL box

It's the 'without closing keyboard' that's the crucial bit....
