O/S Daily Thread Thursday 30th August

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 30th August. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in,put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, soplease don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning BB & all who cross/follow
I have a basket of wet washing ready to hang out & although my washing line is covered I don't fancy paddling across the grass to get to the line. I may put the maidens under the gazebo & put the washing on them.
Plans for the day include a trip to the bank to get some cash for DS who is putting new break pads on my car & buying some liversausage for hubby's packups.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning BB and all who follow. Am sitting with my coffee listening to the rain pouring down! Got all the uniform and shoes labelled up for school last night so aside from feeling pleased with myself my finger tips ache from where I kept stabbing myself! When all the kids up (including the visitors) we'll have bacon sarnies before packing most of them off to an activity day. Then tonight will be a mix between macaroni and cauliflower cheese for tea and I think I have strudel in the freezer as its more wintery by the day.
My youngest starts back on Tuesday but eldest is still excluded so we're working with the county to find him a school. Loads to do and can't wait til there is some order back to the days so I can get on with it!!!Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x
Cloudy but some blue sky here this morning, rain forecast for later. DH up and off to work stupid early.
Dinner last night was gammon, egg, onion & chive sauce, mash, HG green beans, and broccolli. Remembered to get beef out to defrost, so tonight we will be having beef casserole. DS2 has a hospital appt this morning, it's very likely they he'll be signed off, they wanted to do it last year but as he was moving up to senior school I wanted to wait until I was happy he had settled and there were no problems.
Have a rather large pile of washing to get done, so will be putting a load in shortly. Don't really want to use TD so will have to see if I can dodge the rain showers that are forecast later. Have some ironing too, so will do my best with that later.
Work was quieter yesterday morning, so was less stressful. I'm enjoying my days' off more and more, even though I've only just come back from being on holiday, think that says something about the working environment - and it's set to get worse!
I'll be trying to get everything cleared off the dining room table, somehow it's become full of c**p, not really sure how that happened.
Have a good day, stay safe and well x

Morning everyone
Got soaked walking pooch and it's now blue sky!! Definately feels like autumn has arrived though this morning
Plans are to continue with more washing. Struggling to dry it all and we don't have a TD. If rain holds off its out on the line
H going in to work for his last day today and he is dreading it poor b*gger. Thankfully they have put him on garden leave til he finishes in September.
Need to get some baking done, tins are empty. Time to get stuck into proper OS way of life. Have been doing it halfheartedly but time to get stuck back in and save those pennies.
Not sure whats for tea yet, am all out of kilter since coming back
Esmf fingers crossed they find your DS a place ASAP. Saw in your sig about your H, hope he's OK xxxx
Hugs and spoons all round xxxxI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

emsf Hope that you find a new school for your son.
DD1, DD2 and I and a couple of their friends are off to Skegness for the day on the train.
Picnic is made and coats are packed (and swimming costumes!)
Fingers crossed for good weather.
Have a lovely day everyone.:)0 -
Good morning everyone, I think we had all the rain last night as it's quite sunny atm. Did the majority of the months shopping last night but got back late so we didn't have mince and dumplings but ham, chips and eggs from the chickens. So need to cook the mince tonight.
Today I need to finish number crunching what's left of the wages, meet DS1 at the opticians and watch the paralympians get teary when they get their medals just the same as when I watched the Olympics.0
