Dell Refurbs?

Options
Hi, does anyone have any experience of using the dell outlet store? What are the refurbished computers like, are they good value? I only want a new pc but dell seem to insist on selling a monitor with all their new computers but the outlet store has plenty of base units. Any advice greatfully received.

Just to add my budget is about £400-£500, I run photoshop and dreamweaver and office, so lots of ram and fast cpu is needed but flashy graphics and tv tuners are not!

past experience of the outlet store is that they are not usually refurbs, they are orders that have been processed then cancelled - as the advert says "we only make them for you" or older stock that has not been selling well.

    Hi there

Bought from the dell outlet in Dec, and so far so good - they had a deal on at the time which effectively gave us a 19" monitor for free, so was a really good deal. Came in a sealed box, and looked like it had never been used before. Whether it was a refurb or cancelled order i have no idea, but don't care too much!

    Got the following:
    Dimension E521
    AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3500
    512MB Ram
    250GB Hdd
DVD-Rom drive (but I have an external DVD-RW, so no problem)
    WinXP Pro

Plus keyboard, mouse, speakers and 19" monitor, all for £350

    So I would reccomend!

Thanks for the link but they still come up with monitors, I really do not want one and although I'm sure I could sell on ebay I don't really have the time!

A mate of mine, placed an order for a new dell pc over the phone last week. He said he didn't need a monitor and they were fine about it. I think the price dropped by over £100.

Ordering over the internet, there doesn't seem to be any option to remove the monitor from any setup.

I think when I replace my existing dell pc, I'll go with the dell outlet store. They seem really good value.

Thanks for the link but I really was hoping for something with a little bit more power than a celeron D. I did try all the links but there really is not much with out a monitor.

I really think dell are missing a trick here, I can't be the only person who already has a good monitor but wants to upgrade their pc.

why don't you pick a model you want, and ring them up and ask for the price without a monitor.

The US site has more models without a monitor
