I have a business and private ebay accounts (Only use the private one now tho, but limited to 100 listings a month on that - or says I should upgrade to business - which I dont want to)

Can i create a 3rd account (2nd private) one to list more? I know ill have no feedback tho!

There is no limit of 100 items a month before you need to upgrade to a business. At least two of my competitors list hundreds of items a month and still maintain private status (one even uses a business name and mentions his antique shop in his listings)

You can list 100 items a month under 99p free of charge, in addition to that you can use the Free listing weekends (or whole weeks) and list the maximum there as well. As there has been on average 2 FLW a month that would mean 300 free listings per month- which seems generous for a private seller.

You can have as many accounts as you like, but it is a grey area as to whether you can use that to double your free listings. You can always list more and pay for th elistings.

However, I would be careful in some categories about appearing to be trading and getting the forced upgrade to a business. Clothing seems to be one that ebay pick on quite a bit

Though nobody appears to yet know what the triggers are for eBay prompting private accounts to be upgraded to business accounts, I'm guessing that a chain of private eBay accounts, affiliated to the same paypal accounts, with the same name and address and all using the maximum free 100 listings is going to draw unwelcome interest.

I suspect you might be right.

Hi, Can anyone help. At the bottom of my selling screen where it shows how many items i can list free it shows:

Zero Insertion Fee during promo weekend, 2nd price tranche and above, limited to 100 listings

    Shouldn't this be 150 not 100?

    Thanks

    Babnie
  • Hope this hasn't been asked and I'm just missing it - is it free listing no matter how you list? ie BIN?

Thanks. It's saying that my total fees are £1.50 for the 5 items I'm trying to list - is it because I'm relisting them? (never done it from relist before so not sure lol)

    Scottish Lass,

I always relist my items that havent sold, so i dont think its that. Have you read the ts and cs like Soolin suggested?

The listings have to be £1 or more in auction style
You have to meet a criteria in your performance, you can check this by going onto your dashboard.

There are all sorts of reasons.

But i'd do what soolin says as s/he is a bit of an expert on this thread :)

Yeah, I've read the ts & cs and it says:

During the promotional period, if sellers re-list an eligible item that had previously closed without a successful sale, the re-listed item will be considered to be a part of the promotion and form a part of the 150 listings limit

So that's fine - I've checked my dashboard and it shows as:

    Item as described 4.91 0.00% (0)
    Communication 4.95 0.00% (0)
    Dispatch time 4.91 0.00% (0)
    P and P charges 4.86 0.00% (0)

(bit annoyed at the P&P being 4.86 as I weight everything and charge what it costs to post it - not a penny over - but hey ho!) so I can't see the problem. Will just list them and see what happens I guess. Thanks for your help. :)
