Any warranty left that you would invalidate by not following the service schedule?

    Not a main dealer warranty.

They did give me a 6 month mechanical breakdown warranty with a £500 limit when I bought the car, but you know how these work, if it is considered wear and tear the warranty wont cover it anyway, so not worth the piece of paper its printed on.
  • Sorry if I missed this, but where did you buy it from?

I would rather not say at this moment in time...

I think that may be 6 years...
Service book is in the glove box
But do I have to take it to the main dealer to be checked??
The second service wasn't done by the main dealer anyway, does this make any difference??
  • Salesmen and politicians, never believe a word.

Indeed, the only thing you can be sure of knowing is when they lie....

    Ok........

Was it a main dealer, a national chain, a car supermarket etc

Can you help us to help you by providing the info without talling us which branch... or is it just "Uncle Joe's Car Sales" type operation?

It depends who the dealer is. If its a Vauxhall main Dealer, ask to see the manager and explain that unless he does something to remedy the lie you were told you will write to Vauxhall about the unprofessional behaviour of the dealer. He may take the view that the salesman has been caught telling a porky and make you an offer of a free service. He knows its your word against the salesman but they will nit like getting reported to the manufacturer who likes to think that the dealers are looking after their customers. If its a independent with a repultation threaten to go to the press...

No its not a national chain or main dealer, just a local car sales about 35-40 cars on their lot.
The man I have been dealing with and who sold me the car is the sales manager, I think the owner just counts the money :rotfl:

In that case just tell him, I know you lied and you know you lied. Either you pay for a service or I will tell anyone who will listen abour what sort of dealer you are. Alternatively, put it down as a mistake you will not make again.
