2009 Astra with a service light?

Are you sure you don't just mean the spanner light?

Must admit this one threw me as well.

I had a 1998 Daewoo (which is very similar to the 1993 Astra) and it had a service light, in lieu of the MIL on newer designs, so I assume this was a carry-over from the Vauxhall.

Ok not technically a light but it says insp on the dash when it is started, for about ten seconds.
Which in the manual says this will display when a service is due.

Go and see his immediate boss with him present, if you get no joy there then go higher up, teach the lying little toad a lesson and make sure there are plenty of other people about.
I do wonder whether the direct manager of the salesman might privately applaud said salesman for being a shark.

Whether whoever is in charge of the dealership, or any national manager / boss / managing director / CEO, well that's a different thing.

In my experience,if you have a problem like that, and you hit a stone wall, go right to the top, not just the next link in the chain.

I've got an 57 plate Astra, £80 will get you an intermin service and £140 a major service. Its upto you but for £80 I would pay it. Thats from a decent independant Garage, not Vauxhall.

If you've got the cash Vauxhall will do it for north of £200.

I'd be peeved too, but I would have highlighted when he spun the line, and probably walked away at that point unless it was a really good deal that I didn't think I could better. I'd also be telling family and friends to stear clear.

You do realise you can continue to drive the car with the warning on, as its only done 7K since its last service. Did you get any other checks done on the car? I mean if they told you it had just had new brakes, I wouldn't be surprised to find out it hadn't.

I am aware I can drive it.
Its just the principle of the matter :o
I even know how to reset the light should it become annoying. Stupidly I didnt realise it hadn't been serviced until the INSP message came on and I checked the history :o but as I was told it was done 3 months ago, I took that as truth.

The oil does look clean on the dipstick and as I am getting no-where with the sales manager...
All I get is that "we didn't put a service on the sales invoice thats why it wasn't done"
I remind him that  "you told me it was done 3 months ago so didn't need a service"
    doesn't get me anywhere...

Lucky he isn't nearby or I would pay him a visit and insert the sales invoice somewhere :D

I may consider leaving the service till March as we only do 5,000 a year anyway so no massive miles going to be done by us before then.

It had its first MOT prior to our purchase which didn't throw up any advisories, and no other lies told to me.

Its all HPI clear as well, we already checked that ;)

Any warranty left that you would invalidate by not following the service schedule?
  • Sorry if I missed this, but where did you buy it from?
