Sorry for being blunt but that's complete nonsense. EJ's presence at FCO is far greater than BA's and they won't dump anyone in case there's a problem. And let's face it, if BA's single flight LGW to FCO is cancelled it is pretty unlikely another will be put in its place. They might be able to transfer some passenger to LHR and get them on flights from but chances are they'll be rebooked for next day. EJ on the other hand has several more flights from LGW to which affected passengers can be rebooked.

Stats above suggest BA run more flights.
I've been dumped by Easyjet on more than one occasion to fend for myself, but never with BA. I've used both carriers frequently for ~14 years.

You can't really call someones post based on their personal experiences as 'complete nonsense'.

I'll happily review any stats which you can provide which is at odds with my post.

  • Only been let down by BA once out of all the times we have flown with them. It was a delay at Ibiza that started it, resulting in a delay landing at Gatwick. That delay mean further delay as here was no one available to get the tubey thing to the aircraft to we could get off the plane. 45 mins delay in total. It was a big deal at the time as it was 2.00am and I wanted a cigarette! Having smoked and with the benefit of hindsight, 30 mins later, it wasn't such a big deal.

We had an 'incident' when leaving Dublin a few years ago. We had to miss our flight as we had left our keys at the friends we were visiting. Never happened before and we did panic as my wife needed to be at work the following day, when I say needed, I mean needed. We went to the Ryanair desk as we had booked through them, £500 for the two us to board a flight the next day. Easyjet had no flights ( not their fault), ended up at The BA desk £200 for the two of us flight left in 2 hours.

Boarded said BA flight. Very nice staff and a 'free' coffee and sandwich during the 45 minute flight.

    I love BA!

I prefer to go by the time table which tells me BA has 1 flight from LGW whereas EJ has 4 on Fridays and 3 on Sundays (OP said they were going for a weekend).

If you had made it clear you were just sharing personal experiences I wouldn't have called your post nonsense but you didn't.

The "I've seen" bit should have been a bit of a give away, but I'll remember and hold your hand through my posts in the future ;)

Come on now Malkie, the "I've seen" bit was completely unconnected to your claim that EJ dumps passengers. What you said was:

"I'd be more worried about the return flight if that went wrong - Easyjet will dump you whereas BA won't"

No mention of it being based on personal experience or that "you've seen" passengers being dumped. I like your posts in here but at least stand by what you said or admit that you either embellished a bit or meant something different than what you wrote.

    No need to be rude.

Whilst I am a fan of BA, in this case I would go with Easyjet. Yes, BA do have a far greater capacity than EJ, but the fact is that they do still have a good number of cancellations and delays. At least with EJ you have the possibility of getting on another flight that day.

As for how either airline handles cancellations at outstations, I would say they are as bad as each other. You do not get the same BA service overseas as you do here.

Guess that's what happens when someone calls your post 'complete nonsense'.

I do apologise if any offends was taken.

There is no getting away from the fact that BA can and has been known to deploy wide body aircraft on short haul routes when problems occur, easyJet doesn't because it hasn't got any.

    Is that jpsartre apologizing again?
