why was it incorrect?
I said that the modem came through a coax and the telephone came through a seperate line, which it does
Q from looking to save money about a £19.99p Virgin Non Cable Product. "do you have to pay BT line rental?"
Your response. "no the ntl modem comes through coax so if you only got bb you'd only have that and no phone line needed.if you get telephone they install seperate phone line.
Virgin Media will not install a seperate phone line for a non-cable product( Ex Virgin Net) You normally need a BT line.0 -
Virgin have a good deal - £19.99 for 8mb bb, and anytime calls.
Staff extremely helpful.
A word of advice - wait until Monday before you transfer to them. There will be a nice surprise - wink-wink.
Are they about to launch llu where you dont pay Line Rental?

I might be wrong but reading that it means it still isnt £19,99 its £19.99 to virgin and about £10 line rental to BT so really its then £29,99 a month so the op is right it isnt as good a deal as they believed.
And ianian99 is right cable is coax and fibre optics, telephone line is telephone line 2 completely different entities but both can supply broadband.
Yep - Virgin want you to pay the std £10.75 to BT as well as pay this fee. But my recent experiences of Virgin (Blueyonder) cable is that I might still be tempted to ask for this service to replace all my current Virgin CABLE services - because they are not "fit for purpose". The last two months I have been charged 50% extra to have a dial-up service to replace the cable broadband I have already paid for, because that has failed for extended periods when I needed it for work. I ask you - is that reasonable?0 -

Sounds very unreasonable to me.
But as you point out to get the non-cable service you would need a BT line . Would you expect NTL to pay for this?:cool:0 -
I would be happier paying 10.75 to BT (with free weekend calls), and 17.99 to Virgin for "up to" 8mb broadband, than paying £30 to Virgin for phone (same deal), broadband - 2mb max - and TV ... hhmmm ... a package comparable to Freeview, but without Sky News or Sky Sports News ... lets not let Sky1 enter the equation! So apart from the price of freeview boxes, why should I let the cable still snake into my house? It seems to mess up my internet access, and costs me more to boot!0

The offer is £9 per month, for three months, then £18 per month for the rest of the contract. Just dont want anyone getting too excited!0 -

I see where your coming from. If you switched to BT you could always CPS your calls to Primus Saver 2 and get FREE Evening and Weekend calls.

If you're not in a cable area, it's a good deal for BB and phone. Keep your BT line rental and make some savings on phone calls - unless you use less than £2/month in non-weekend calls.
But don't sign up until Monday.0 -

I was referring to the £10 a month standalone offer which ends at mid-night 31/3/2007. They seem to have taken this off site already.0 -
My point is that I AM in a cable area, and their cable based service sucks so much that going to BT and ADSL service without TV would be a gain - even without any deals, "services" (are those personal, or hasnt the marketing dept sunk so low yet (sic) ) or any other temptations to stay. I hope Virgin can prove me wrong, but their delivery side is batting against the customer service crew at the moment. And Delivery is bowling the googlies!0
