Part of the Furniture 10,000 Posts Name Dropper I've been Money Tipped!
Years ago I swore that I would only ever go back to British Gas if they were giving it away:mad:

The switch away from them was a total nightmare, used to be on the phone on hold for ages and it wasn't a freephone number and for months after they kept insisting that I still owed them money that I didn't.

EDF have been fine in the year that I have been with them.
Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time

I have been with them just over 12 months now and still not got a correct opening gas reading icon9.gif

Then they've missed the industry deadline for a switch and now its more complicated to correct.

Suggest starting a thread to get some opinions on the problem so you are armed with the information you need.

Can't complain about EDF. No probs with our monthly DDs.

Also managed to get a free iPod Shuffle and a free EcoManager off them when we joined last year. Just needed an email to the CEO to get these.

As my fixed rate deal with them finishes at the end of September, we are currently transferring over to ScotPower. Trouble is that we haven't got any freebies from them in doing this. Mmmm...just had a thought;).

We are also moving across to SP when the V2 deal finishes there is £21 cash back on quidco from SP...still expecting a £100 hike on last years fix tho :( but it's the cheapest we can find

I have sat and read lots of postings about EDF and many of you are complaining about customer service and direct debit problems. I am considering changing to their Blue + Price Promise tarriff April 2014 in the hope we might save a few pounds and also its fixed until April 2014 which seems to be a good idea.

Currently we have our gas with British Gas on Online saver 4 with Energy Smart and pay £70 per month (I like the way I have reasonable control over this DD) our account is £75 in credit. Adding up our annual usage its about 19437 kwh our postal code is PR8.

Our electricity is with Scottish Power and has been for 20+ years ashamed to say still on their standard tarrif and we pay quarterly by cheque. Annual usage is about 5417 kwh.

According to the EDF site and comparison site we could save about £230 if we take out dual fuel. After reading the problems many seem to have with DD`s am a bit worried as to what amount they might set up for us and how often this would be changed and if we would have any control over it. (have found with British Gas a quick phone call could keep it at £70 and now I think you can sort it out on their website)

I appreciate every company has its good and bad points (many might be unhappy with British Gas! etc) so just wondering who has taken out the Blue Price Promise tariff and is happy with the transfer over and the service they are getting. Its quite scary considering a changeover as this would be our first time so want to get it right.

Many thanks for any advice, information or help.
Has anybody who is with EDF been told they cannot fix their electric if they are on the 20:20 tariff. they told me I cannot without coming off it and changing my meter??
