Terrylw1 thank you for replying.
I`m a bit confused about what you are saying regarding `sweeping the high value...etc sorry to be a bit thick.0 -

What (I think:think:) Terrylw1 is referring to is that if an Edf direct scheme account has a debit balance in excess of £150 - at 'annual review' - the debit balance is collected by direct debit in a lump sum:eek: using the monthly payment mandate.0 -
Thank you, that makes sense. So if we transfer to them then I just need to make sure I don`t go into a negative balance at any time. I`m still pondering on what to do.
I like the way I manage things at the moment but could also do with saving a bit of ££.0 -
Yeah, keep an eye on your DD's as EDF's calculation in year 1 appears to have issues.
It doesn't even need to be that complicated if you review if you are over or under as you submit readings if its more frequent than quarterly.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0 -
Currently we are with British Gas and if they change my DD I can ring them and its put back to the amount I had been paying, are EDF this obliging? thanks0

well i am just coming to the end of my current fixed term with edf and am going to move to a more expensive tarrif just to get away with them as i have had too many problems that a slightly lower bill each month is just not worth the hassle from my point of view, as since i switched to them i have had to contact them at least twice every month in regards to my usage and bills from silly things such as
my usage not matching their acceptable usage profile variance as i have a son who is at uni, so when he comes back usage increases above their normal variation so my meter reading are not accepted - same when he goes back my usage drops and goes below the variance so meter readings not accepted, so i have to contact them and go over it with them every month
once i get them to accept the meter readings i then have to wait a few days for a bill to be generated, at which point i then have to contact them again to get my direct debit set back to a reasonable value, for example i have had my direct debit changed by their system from £150 a month one month down to £4.30 a month the next month, so every month i have to phone them and get it reset to £80 a month which is roughly what we should be paying (little over but i prefer to be in a bit of credit)
not only this but now i am coming to the end of my fix tarrif i went to see what they are offering with their blue plus price promise tarrif, and according to their website base on my usage profile my monthly payment would be £160 a month, when i have worked it out myself its closer to £100
really i just dont trust them so am going to be moving to either scotish power or eon as it stands and paying a little bit more, but hopefully getting less problemsDrop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)0 -

Well yes and no (or no and yes).
Keep on top of your balance and always ensure your payment amount is adequate for your annual consumption. If you have a sound argument and an account credit balance after a very recent reading, IME advisers are not resistant to restoring the previous payment amount.
Anyway is this not academic as Blue has been withdrawn?:(0 -
I have been with EDF for approx 3 years now and have stayed with them as they have been the best deal for dual fuel which I could find when I checked and shopped around. The customer service do take a while to answer but as a previous poster said, its freephone so no worries there and the team, I have found to be knowledgeable and efficient and I haven't had any problems with billing (hope this carries on).
I also got a letter advising my fixed deal was ending at the end of september so called and got on their blue deal at the end of my fixed period just before they pulled the deal. Was I pleased or what? You could say.SPC Nbr.... 1484....£800 Saved £946 in 2013)
(£1,010 in 2014)

I may have been lucky or maybe just the average but I have been with them just over a year now and after that experience have happily changed to their Blue tariff recently.
When I joined EDF the transfer was a bit clunky, some of their updates on what was happening were less than clear and it was a bit slow. They set my monthly payment to be what I (honestly) told them I had been paying British Gas and have reduced it since (warm winter admittedly).
I'm a bit cheesed off with them recalculating my DD whenever I get a bill but I cannot really argue that they were anything but reasonable with the way they did it.
Over all I would say they are no worse than most other companies and better than some (Npower:mad:)0 -
As a company, I've been with them since they were Virgin Energy. I wouldn't trust them with a DD, but are OK with pay quarterly.0
