It's only been pulled from the comparison sites but is still available direct from EDF's website.

It was still available by phone earlier this afternoon0

I have been with them a year and not had any real problems.
Was very annoyed about the crappy Thank Yous campaign because I had to keep chasing them to get a code in the first place and only ever got the shopping vouchers prize - total waste of time
When I got my last bills they even reduced the DD a bit.
I think all of the major suppliers have good and bad points.Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0 -
Thank you didn`t realise it was still available.0

The final straw was when they deducted over £400 from my current account and when I rang in the Customer Service Rep said I would need to approach my bank to reclaim the money through the DD Guarantee Scheme.
It annoyed me that the assumption was I could afford to wait to claim MY money back, also I'm the one left running around sorting out their poor admin\computer glitch - instead of them initiating a DD refund directly (not sure if they are able to do this-but if not they should have something in place to speed things up & taking the onus from me having to chase their mistakes up ).
Decided to cancel the DD and pay the bill directly & quarterly now, losing my supposed discount. Do not appreciate any company dipping into my Bank Account ad hoc.
Will be looking into moving towards the end of the contract.
Customer Service Rep had excellent customer service skills
It would seem to me your complaint is about the direct debit system, specifically the remedies it does (n't?) provide. I entirely agree. The guarantee says immediate refund from the bank, but too often the response of bank staff is total confusion.
Anyway regarding EDF I was with them years ago and always found the service good. I believe the billing system is utter garbage but that's not the staff faults. I'll move along now as I wasn't a recent customer lolMixed Martial Arts is the greatest sport known to mankind and anyone who says it is 'a bar room brawl' has never trained in it and has no idea what they are talking about.0 -
I've been with EDF since last year and never had any problem. Like someone said, I submit meter readings online every month and in fact they reduced my DD after 4 months.
As my contract was coming to end next month,I was using comparison sites and they were still coming cheapest to me.
Called them 2 days ago and switched to their new Blue+Promise (apparently withdrawn now!!!)
Yes, it takes about 20 mins to get to talk to someone when you ring.I didn't mind as it was the only one time I had to in one year:D
I recommend them.0 -
I have been with them just over 12 months now and still not got a correct opening gas reading'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. Can't complain about EDF. No probs with our monthly DDs.
Also managed to get a free iPod Shuffle and a free EcoManager off them when we joined last year. Just needed an email to the CEO to get these.
As my fixed rate deal with them finishes at the end of September, we are currently transferring over to ScotPower. Trouble is that we haven't got any freebies from them in doing this. Mmmm...just had a thought;).0 -
I too was a bit concerned with the reports of poor service, but have signed up to switch from BG to EDF. I am very pleased with the information they have provided to date. Nice clear and easy to understand.
So far so good. Far easier than the hassle I experienced when switching from SSEB to BG."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi
