I have had an alert in the last few days from Equifax, to state that Identity Check to comply with Anti Money Laundering Regulations was carried out on the 21/08/2012.
What sort of membership/account do you have with Equifax that provides these alerts, but that you then have to shell out £6.95 to view your file?Optimists see a glass half full
Pessimists see a glass half empty
Engineers just see a glass twice the size it needed to be

For goodness sake.
You paid out a subscription for an Alert service from Experian which is a voluntary thing to do. You obviously felt you needed this service for something - if it was specifically to do with the Bank of Cypros then it's done it's job. If it was for something else, then it's a bonus.
Get on the wrong side of Money Laundering regulations and you will be in serious trouble - if you paid out £6.95 for a credit report based on the alert then it was, sadly, your choice, when the £2.00 version would probably have met your needs.
If you want to use an Alert service then that's all well and good, as is using a premium service to get your credit information, but I really doubt that Bank of Cyprus or Experian will refund anything, as you don't really have a leg to stand on. Please save yourself some time and money by not pursuing this....
Signature? I don't need no steenkin' signature.... :-)0 -
Well just an update they refunded and even gave £20 for calls, they admit that it shouldn't of been done on a closed account. Good to see they resolved.Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

There's a difference between heeding an Experian score and utilising its alerts to look out for suspicious activity.0

Equifax email , "
Bank of Cyprus has agreed to remove the search date 21.08.2012 and it won't show on your Credit Report. We've created an updated Credit Report for you to view this change.
The note that we added, stating that your information was in dispute will be removed within 24 hours.
You’ll find more information about your credit report at: https://www.equifax.co.uk/help. If you have a question, you should find the answer in our FAQ section. If not, you can send us an online query, and attach your documents to it - no need to worry about them getting lost or delayed in the post.
I hope you find this useful. If there’s anything else we can do for you, please let us know.
Kind regards
