I just saw this link in this thread and thought it warranted a thread of it's own. Thankfully I've never shopped at TK Maxx.

Bump cos this is massive, the thisismoney site is saying it could affect people who bought there between December 2002 to December 2006 which would definitely include me. Advice on what to do, and a phone number for more information is here.
Maybe this thread title could be updated and it could be made sticky for a while until more people know about it?
Aparently there was hacker software left on the tk maxx computers for 16 months without anyone noticing it  , how can this happen?:j Ready to take control of my life! :j

I made a posting about this in January.
Used TK Maxx - Check your statement.
Cardholders from other countries including Japan and Australia were warned well before our Card Industry rang the alarm bell.0 -

none, no company is secure from hackers but they have apologised and told people to watch their statements, they dont need to do anymore then that0 -
This is scaremongering.
The company that was hacked is TJ Maxx the American parent company of TK Maxx. I doubt if any UK customer details were held in the US. By all means keep an eye on your card transactions, as you should do regularly anyway. This advice applies to all credit card useage, not just with TK Maxx.
The records were old, and the any scams would be US based as few American companies will deal with any credit card that does not have a US address.ac's lovechild0 -

This isnt true, the hackers got into the Watford database which I assure you is very much in the UK. I shop there all the time, at the watford one and ive just had to cancel my debit card as lots of fraud on it! Pain in the butt!0 -
I saw the Tonight program the other night about this, Martin was on it. Its quiet frighting that both the Police and Banks seem to do little, whilst these organised crime gangs get scot free. It makes you wonder what is safe now, what with bank details found in skips, chip n pin being used abroad so these gangs spend our hard earned money, ID theft, what next?
Oh and even call centres security is getting breached by gangs infiltrate them and steal our details.
We all pay one way or the other.0 -
Having followed this via American news, way before it appeared in UK press.
I am still of the opinion that the hacking was done in the US not the UK and that the UK media has jumped on the bandwagon with the Watford link.
TJX statement includes senence,
"No T.K. Maxx data was included in the data that we believe was stolen relative to approximately 45.7 million payment cards used in transactions in North America."
