Butterfly Brain, if you'v got a FarmF**ds near you 2 tins of tuna for £1 at the moment, date's are late 2016, might be worth stocking up with the sound of that yummy recipe of yours.hth£71.93/ £180.000

B/Brain they sound lovely I have c&p into my online cookbook and will try them when I want to use some tuna for a change from my store cupboard.I don't eat buns but with a salad they would make a nice change Cheers0

boultdj, thanks for that
I usually buy Aldi ones for 59p because they are dated to 2020 at the moment, and I always have some in the cupboard, it is surprising what you can do with a tin or two of tuna
Went shopping this morning and only spent £30, I am trying to cut back and using what I already have in at the moment.
It did include two packs of 6 pork chops on special offer at £3.79 each though and they are in the freezer.
Tonight I am making honey and mustard chicken and broccoli bake with new potatoes and peas.
Make a white sauce and add a tbsp of honey or to taste and ½ tbsp of mustard (I prefer grainy mustard, if I have it in, if not I use ordinary) and mix it all together.
poach some chicken thighs or breasts and dice the meat and mix into the sauce with some brocolli florets, fresh or frozen, it doesn't really matter. Top with breadcrumbs and dot with butter and cook until golden about 15 minutes at 170cBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

I made something similar for lunch today but used pasta instead of potatoes.
Fry onion, garlic and sliced mushroom in butter and in the meantime boil pan of water to cook pasta, broccoli and asparagus.
Add diced chicken breast to onion/mushroom mix and brown off.
Add a tablespoon of flour and seasonings (salt, pepper, English mustard) to soak up butter/juices and thicken. Stir in milk to make creamy sauce, adding in the pasta, broccoli and asparagus once cooked.
Adjust seasoning to taste and grate over Parmesan cheese if required.
This was all made by using up fridge leftovers and store cupboard ingredients and provided four good sized portions costing around 75p each.0 -

Wow, what a bargain!
There's loads you can do with eggs:
omlettes - various types - plain, cheese, mushroom, ham etc
quiche - either with or without a pastry crust. You can also do the same thing and make them in muffin cases so easy to handle;
egg & chips;
scrambled eggs on toast;
fritatta;
boiled eggs & soldiers;
hard boiled eggs - in salad or sandwiches;
baked eggs - cook some peppers in the oven and after about 40 minutes make "hollows" in the peppers and break an egg in each and cook for about 5 minutes more. You can also do this using chips;
poached eggs on toast;
egg custard;
baked egg custard;
custard tart;
meringues - use the egg yolks in egg custard or scrambled eggs.
Can't think of any others at the moment but probably worth googling as I'm sure there are more ways!
