Mushroom ketchup is also vegan and very similar to Worcestershire sauce. It is widely available in supermarkets.
I use this all the timepatchwork_cat wrote: »Apple braid recipe http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=6566426&postcount=14
The apple braid recipe is amazing and I also use the dough recipe for iced buns which are the best I have ever tasted0 -

I have included split peas and mushy peas, but it's just for one week. Once stores of pasta, rice and spices have been built up, there would be more flexibility. All from Tesco:

Thanks vickiem that is a great slant, because mostly we are catering for omnivores, so it is nice to have a veggie option as well.Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Any chance we can keep this on topic please? Feeding your family for £20 a week is not the place to discuss HB or CT benefit etc and it means people have to search to find the information they are looking for.
Thanks
Christ! I wasn't going to talk about it forever! I mean how are we all supposed to help each other out of we're worried about being slightly OT all the time.
I shan't bother with this forum again!I'm C, Mummy to DS 29/11/2010 and DD 02/11/2013

Some nice ideas there Vickie.
I can't help wondering though - would it work out better in the long run to buy a big bag of chickpeas and make one's own hummus.
I've seen a fat club recipe that's tinned chickpeas, fat free natural yogurt, and chosen flavour (garlic, roasted pepper/onion), blitzed.
I think vegan would be cheaper with veg oil? That sounds like a classic case of premature extrapolation.
