Can being off "sick with stress" affect your upcoming redundancy payout?

Trying to be constructive, have you looked at CBT? This is a therapy that can help you cope with stressful situations. There are several websites that can help you learn this (Living Life to the Full and Moodgym are two), and the book CBT for Dummies is also very good. The websites are both free, and your library should be able to get you a copy of the book. Worth a try?0

What benefit will going on the sick do you? Is sitting at home moping going to make you better?
I wouldn't be moping. I'd be getting my debts sorted and trying to arrange reduced payments to the CCCS re: my Debt Management Plan as I can't do that at work.
I'm not the only one at work that feels this way, they have treated us terribly and they aren't going to get another ounce of effort out of us.
They can't even tell us at the same time we ARE being made redundant, just shocking.0 -

Thank you, that is what I like to hear
I can't go to our local Psychological Therapies service though as I know a woman who works there, just my luck.0 -

I'm talking from personal experience here - people don't mind talking about broken bones, but anything psychological and they'll run a mile.
Once a fruitcake always a fruitcake....?.0 -

You don't need to go to PT - the resources given enable you to teach yourself.Rochdale_Guy wrote: »Once a fruitcake always a fruitcake....?
In the eyes of employers, yep, pretty much. The only exception to that in general is the civil service, but as you know they're not hot on recruiting at the mo.
Honestly, take it from someone who has been there, don't take the sickness route unless you can possibly avoid it.0 -
Okay then, maybe a couple of days with that stomach bug that's been going round the building......0

Or maybe you could use some of your holiday entitlement?
Once you are made redundant, you can sign on for JSA. You will have to undertake a certain number of jobseeking steps each week, but you will have plenty of time to make payment arrangements and so on.
Good luck.0 -

If you are in the redundancy period, does being off "sick" affect anything please?
You THINK you will be off with stress? Is that for real?0
