Do Dj's really add to a wedding?
Comments
-
I spent £300 on a DJ only 2 people really did any dancing (not me and hubby) and he didn't have any of the songs I wanted for our first dance - I don't even know what the tune that was our first dance was.
I told him he could go home an hour early as no-one was interested in dancing - wish I hadn't wasted the money.A waist is a terrible thing to mind.0 -

think that answers OP's question.0 -
I dont think one persons bad experience fully answers the op question- we paid £250 for our dj and he was really good, we gave him a list of songs and he played most of them, along with a load of other songs that got people up- the dancefloor was busy all night.
I think an ipod disco/ laptop would work- but I would probably put a lot of extra songs on and try and get a good range of songs to cover all your audience (although even my Nan was raving to the Klaxons!!:rotfl:)0 -
The dj just called, he said hes been paid by the hotel, he didnt know what i was talking about and i said i was told i had to pay on the day.The last manager got sacked and it looks like hes stolen our money

My daughter was married recently and the DJ was amazing and well worth the £250 they spent on him.
My experience at other weddings is that, once the bride and groom leave, the party ends and everyone goes home. However my daughter and her husband left at 10pm and the disco was still going strong at 11.30pm. He didn't do any chat apart from making a few announcements, but his music choices were perfect for whichever group happened to be on the dancefloor.
Having said all this, we found him via recommendation. A rubbish DJ would have been a total waste of money.0 -
With DJ's occasionally you can get lucky and get a good one and some of them are crap!
We got married in 1995, so not many people even had a computer and Ipods certainly weren't around then. I would've loved the opportunity to choose my own music, we have an Ipod now with pretty much every CD we own on it! We had our reception at a hotel and the DJ was included in the package, he was good and lots of people danced.
The trouble is, a lot of them double book  I was a guest at an engagement party years ago where the DJ didn't turn up. The poor girl was beside herself, out came the yellow pages and they managed to get someone to come at short notice.
We went to a birthday party a few years back and the DJ there was just awful, he played reggae music all night and none of it I'd even heard of, apart from "Baby come back" by UB40 & Pato Banton. Don't get me wrong, I like reggae music, but not all night!
I hope you get it sorted op.Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £18,886.270 -

So have you paid or haven't you?If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0 -
Thanks for your imput everyone. The Dj is saying hes been paid so we might aswell go ahead with it now despite not hearing from the Dj that wil be doing our wedding with 3 days to go.
The last manager made a right mess of things and the hotel didn't even know we were getting married there 13 days before the wedding.
We bought a package deal from the hotel but the payments were broken down and I was told to pay for the Dj on the night but the Dj is saying iv'e paid already so it looks like the money has gone.0 -

It looks to me like you've got a freebie rather than the money being gone?0 -

I'm trying to get hold of the manager to see what's going on but so far no joy. I think the previous manger has taken a cut of the money for the dj and i think hes had the flower allowence aswell. The flosit thought we would get a flower allowence with our package but the previous manager said no.I know hes left the country aswell after being sacked.
Got to pick my dress up soon and full of cold and fever.0
