Yeah as the above states, the ship might be having an overnight in port and sail the next day too

Your best to either elaborate on what you have wrote or contact the company direct

If I was to fly to Southampton I am just as well flying to the Canaries or Majorca.

Or Barcelona; masses of western Med cruises start from there. It's a nice airport and a quick run by taxi down to the cruise port.

If the airline has specifically scheduled that aircraft then it should be ok

However I reckon that is a little late for them to use that sort of flight time

Not if it is thomsons they do things differently to the regular cruise lines, they work more on the package holiday principles and bring people in all day sailing much later.

    Even better, it is Thomson.

and the flight is part of the holiday.

I have not decided to go with Thomson, I am just researching.

I was thinking of sailing from Southamton but getting there from Scotland costs almost as much as what this cruise costs.

Check out the cruise train to southampton.

Also look at Venice and Rome some great deals on NCL now the schools are back.

    Dec 1 11 nights for £422pp. ex Rome(civitivechia)

They may delay, but they are not obliged to.

If it's a package with flights included and the flight is delayed they can choose to sail without the missing passengers and then arrange for them to catch the ship at the cruise line's cost.

For the passenger it'd mean a late arrival, overnight at the embarkation port, back to the airport to catch a flight to the first port of call and then on to the ship. The passengers shouldn't have any additional costs but they would lose part of their cruise.

I have been on numerous cruises and the ship has never sailed without a late linked flight arrival. It has sailed without baggage, and this was couriered to the next port of call. I am not saying it doesn't ever happen, but it is far more likely to wait than sail.

I checked out train tickets from my nearest station to Southampton

Approx £400 each return, and that is with a senior rail card.

Like I said it, costs more to get to Southampton from Edinburgh by train or plane than flying to Majorca.

I agree - the port is very close to the airport, an hour and a half should be plenty of time.

If the flight is delayed for, lets say an hour. And you have to allow for security, baggage reclaim, and the very long walk in Palma airport. Then there is the 20 minute drive (because it is at midnight), to the port. And on top of that there is the security and checkin at the port. Then I'd say that an hour and a half is really pushing it.

If it was a Thomson cruise as part of a package including the flight, then I would have thought that the flight would have also been through Thomson.

Many cruise ships won't wait for anyone. I have heard of many cases where people have missed the ship leaving port, and have had to get their own flight to the next port.

To be on the safe side I would advise the OP to book an earlier flight. And then maybe do a bit of sightseeing in Palma.

What date would you be flying? I just picked a random flight with Easyjet, and it lands at 21.10.

    It does happen.

I suppose it depends on how many people are on the delayed flight.

From where to where and how much and with what amount of luggage?

Random flights are no use to me.
