can i return vacuum cleaner to Makro store to be repaired, if I lost the invoice?

Hello.

Around 6 months ago we bought a vacuum cleaner from Makro store. I have a Makro card. Unfortunately, when moving house 2 months ago we lost the invoice. I can't find it.
Now the vacuum cleaner stopped working properly, and it was not a cheap one...
I wonder if I could take it back to the store to be repaired without the invoice?
I think it is possible to see my Makro statement if there is one, when they log in to their computers?

please help :(

Did you pay cash or use a card? A bank statement or credit card bill should be proof enough

Isn't Makro a company that sells to companies, different rules apply as far as I know, but I'm quite happy to be corrected.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

You are correct McKneff it is a B2B transaction.

I am no longer a Makro holder but last time I used them they listed what you bought on your account

Yes, but the point people are making is that this may be a business to business transaction, and consumer specific legislation might not apply.

It really depends on whether it was a consumer or a business that made the purchase.

Pretty sure the whole point is that it's specifically B2B in order to keep consumers out, and so not have to deal with returns, consumer rights, etc. It may be a lot quicker/easier to claim under the warranty with the manufacturer (if there is one)

Perhaps give Makro Customer Services a call, save the journey to the store

Pretty sure if the OP made the purchase themselves, rather than purchased for/via their company/business then they're a consumer as a matter of fact, therefore not a B2B purchase and the fully covered by the SOGA, despite what Makro's T&Cs might say.

It is possible in business to business transactions to contract out of implied warranties in SOGA, apart from s12 in relation to title, but even then it would be subject to the reasonableness test in UCTA. However even businesses can be treated as consumers the definition of which for SOGA is taken from UTCA s12(1)

A Business can also be treated as a consumer if it is purchasing goods which are ordinarily supplied for private use or consumption.
