cancel virgin

hello,
I've been with virgin for 12 months now and wish to cancel as I'm moving in several days to an area that doesn't do broadband only so have found a cheaper provider. How do I go about cancelling? Will I incur charges? I was only signed up for a 12 month contract. Thanks!

you call up and give them 30 days notice, you will have to pay for this, or probably already have given that you pay one month in advance for your services. But, they may not be able to cancel your telephone line in this time you've given(if you have one)4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0

left it a bit late if you move in a few days?
may end up paying another month0 -
You'll also have to return the equipment they supplied you (STB/SACM) or they'll bill you UP TO £250 per item as,unlike Sky,you don't own it.So ask them to send you a pre paid jiffy bag.0

I don't have a telephone line. Just broadband.0 -
I have just cancelled mine and they made an appointment to collect the equipment the day after they disconnect the serviceLife is not the way it’s supposed to be. It’s the way it is. The way you cope with it is what makes the difference.0

I cancelled TV and Phone service. I'm keeping the broadband. I understand I need to return my TV box. How much time do I have to do so (TV/Phone service ends on 7 September). Will they collect it themselves or send me a pre paid envelope or do I have to chase them to do it?0 -
OP, you'll be charged an ETC based on any remaining months/weeks left on your minimum term. And you'll be charged for 30 days after you give notice. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Okay so none of what has been said was correct.
I cancelled today. They said they will shut off the service at the end of the week (no 30 days notice necessary). I owe them nothing and my account is in credit so they'll owe me a cheque at the end of all this. An engineer will come by to take back their equipment at my new address and I have an email and reference number for all of this.
So no need for 30 days notice. No need to send them anything back as they collect it. And no need to pay any fees if you've completed your contract as you pay one month in advance.0 -
As I said in post #2. You may not have to give them the notice as you've already paid for it..... it means you're not getting the service you've already paid for tho...
Wait and see how much they refund.4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -
No one said that any fees would be payable if you are out of minimum term, it wasn't clear whether you had gone beyond 12m or not. You won't however get a refund for any days beyond your cut off date already paid for except those beyond 30 days if applicable. No free lunch, and no free laptop0
