Sainsburys Grocery Delivery - Online

Don't be daft. They earn more than minimum wage. Would you tip the checkout girl if you were physically in the store? Thought not. And they earn less than the drivers, the drivers arguably do an easier job.
Keep your hand in your pocket next time.
If they carry the shopping up two floors even though they dont have to they are going beyond the normal job and should be tipped0 -
But then again making drivers deliver heavy totes up several floors when in most cases you can actually help isn't fair. What you think happens when the driver hurt their back etc? Do you honesty believe any of the supermarkets will support them much? No, after so many injuries they lose their job and then get someone else.
At least Sainsburys have the policy so drivers are able to decide if the delivery is safe for them to do. I work for Sainsburys I will break policy but if you order 20 crates of alcohol then I would perfer some assistance instead of hurting my back and being off work. There have to be a point where sometimes the amount of shopping ordered is a bit much to be taking up and down the stairs. You must remember the longer the driver is at your property especially flats the longer their van is being left. This increases the security risk of the van and the food on board. Some people do steal.
Disabled customers are exempt from the flat rule and it's usually likely there is a lift in the building anyway.
Dont take the flat policy as that's the main rule. It can be broken but only if it's suitable to do so
People can tip if they want to. It's your choice. If you feel you wish to tip the driver because they made the effort that's up to you. But tips do not have to be money. A small cake or even a drink such as a cold can of coke will make drivers happy. A few customers at Christmas time sometimes give me a warm sausage roll or something, great on a freezing cold night during deliveries.0
