Addresses.
This will sound like a moan, but it isn’t; just saying. The House, Village, County. Please have a clear name plate. Is your house number or name clear from the road? After dark, is your pathway or drive even or is it a hazard that would fell the SAS?
.
Agree with this. i am a delivery driver for one of the competitonMost of my lates come from not being able to find "amber lodge" at 8.30pm at night down a very dark lane where the name plate is on the house down a long drive and totally impossible to see from the lane. The times are usually so tight that it only takes an extra 10 mins looking for a particular address and it can mess up the rest of the run, ending up with the customers further down the list getting their shopping late

Not wishing to take anything away from Sainsburys but I have used Tesco and they have been excellent, too. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0

It's nice to see all the kind words. I have never used any online delivery from any supermarket but I do deliveries for Sainsbury's as one of my jobs and I try my absolute best to make the customers happy. In a year of doing it I have only ever had one bad experience with a customer and that was one who had an address which was extremely difficult to find and the delivery instructions were very vague and involved a restricted width road which the van could not legally enter, in an area where mobile phone reception was almost non-existent.
Aside for my first day doing the job on my own, I have only ever made 2 late deliveries. I would estimate at least 10% of my total deliveries have been made EARLY with the permission of the customer. This always makes people happy, and when talking to them during the drop they normally always go on about how other drivers/supermarkets are always late!
I have only ever had to fail one delivery and that was in the winter of 2011 because I physically was unable to reach the property due to the road conditions (ice). I almost failed a similar one but the customer agreed to meet me at the bottom of the hill in his Land Rover to collect the shopping.
I have had instances where delivering to holiday homes for example where I have arrived before the customer. Frequently these are in remote areas with no mobile phone coverage so you cannot call the customer to find out where they are, and it's not worth delivering your next drop before that one.
As pointed out in one of the posts above, we are not required to deliver above the first floor if there is not a lift. However most drivers will do this anyway and I know I myself have done it on plenty of occasions, sometimes to the 4th floor or higher. If I have very elderly or disabled customers I will offer to help them unpack the shopping at put it away. Some customers ask you to put the shopping in different places, eg the 2L drink bottles in the garage, the frozen stuff in the utility room etc. I always oblige.0 -
I used to have a good service from Sainsbury's online but this is the second time the driver has been late and in this case it's been over an hour and I'm still waiting. To top it off, I had to call customer services when my delivery didn't arrive and only after that did the driver call to say he was running late. To top it off he was very rude. When I asked whether I would be reimbursed, rather than say I should contact customer services for that, he gave me a mouthful. What I also don't understand is he said he would be an hour yet where he said he was is only a 5 minute walk from where I live.
Sainsbury's used to have the policy of giving £10 vouchers if they were late but they have scrapped that because their service has become sloppy and lateness is the norm. They have given me an e-voucher for the delivery to use on my next order (not ordering from them ever again) and I don't think £4.95 makes up for the inconvenience or the rude treatment I received.
If it wasn't for my child being down with the vomiting bug I would have done my usual shopping in the nearby Tesco or Lidl. I would ordinarily have gone with Tesco online as I've never had any problems with them but there weren't any slots available. Sainsbury's you have seriously disappointed me.0 -
I've recently had a 2 deliveries from ASDA and both times they've replaced items that I wasn't happy about either. I've not used any other delivery service as of yet and look forward to trying them out after reading these reviews. Thanks0

Hope Sainsburys worked out for you FrugalMummy
Since Sainsburys bought in their 'brand match', I've found I spent less shopping at Sainsburys than Tescos, Asda etc so I now pretty much always shop there (apart from the odd splurge at M&S if the other half is deserving!) It's certainly worth trying out0 -
Just had my first home delivery experience with Sainsburys. The driver was a very polite & nice guy and brought over 20kgs of stuff to my second floor flat (no lifts). I think I will order again from Sainsbury, a switch from Tesco's after 2 years of online orders with Tesco.0

Sainsbury were great, but I found one huge issue: I always bought one of their half price bottles of wine, and they kept getting substituted, so I then had to pay the full price for the substitution, or reject it and have no wine. Really annoying.
I've since switched to Tesco, and they're fab in my area. Customer services are also really good.
Asda, on the other hand, were useless if you ever needed to sort the frequent problems out!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Does anyone give the delivery driver a tip? I always give them £1.50 I know it's not much but if everyone gives something it might make it worthwhile for the drivers. After all they do not earn a great deal.0

Don't be daft. They earn more than minimum wage. Would you tip the checkout girl if you were physically in the store? Thought not. And they earn less than the drivers, the drivers arguably do an easier job.
Keep your hand in your pocket next time.0
