That was pretty awful - but it didn't look much different to German pumpernickel bread and about as edible!

Rainy-Days

I have really, really enjoyed this series so much. Ruth Goodman is so knowledgeable with aspects of household management regardless of the era. I have loved all of the versions they have done, Victoria, Edwardian and Wartime Farm.

They did a spin off with the Pharmacy which was really interesting as well - if you are into how pharmasists sometimes poisoned unsuspecting punters!!
