How much roughly is the upgrade as until i get home aint a clue

It varies greatly. I've seen them for about £400 return but can be much more if there's no sale going on. However, I gather you have already booked tickets in economy in which case paying for an upgrade can shoot up pretty dramatically. You'll have to call BA to get a quote. Another option is to wait until you're at the airport. Sometimes there are cheap offers to upgrade on the day.

Yes I'm sure. On the domestic legs there is only an economy product, but by virtue of your WTP leg your domestic leg is booked into 'business-UK' which is the full fare economy ticket. This full fare ticket comes with lounge access.

BA don't tend to advertise this - its an oddity of the booking system that WTP domestic connecting flights book into business-UK.

kicking myself. Good for next time though:beer:

The other posters have covered your questions, but I just have to add that T5 is fantastic. Hellhole it is most definitely not!

Regards to lounge access.... Because T5 is exclusively BA, the only lounges are BA. Therefore you have to be on a premium ticket or be a frequent flyer to gain access, you can't simply buy access like at other terminals/airports.

That said I wouldn't worry, it's a great terminal even for the "riff raff" who can't get in the lounges!

You can only have mobile boarding passes if you are a member of the BA Executive Club, it is easy to sign up to on their website and you add that to your booking if you do.

T5 is an excellent terminal and Plane Food is much nicer than the BA lounge - better food, proper service and nicer ambience. We had a two course meal for two and a bottle of wine there for about £55 in June whilst waiting for our flights which I thought was good value.

We enjoyed it. Last time when we went in the lounge we endured it

It's just a room in an airport. Flying in a premium cabin or holding airline status isn't reserved for lords and ladies! You often get DYKWIA types in the business and first lounges - often shouting down the mobile phones.

I'm happy to challenge that the Concorde room is better than plane food, however compared to the nasty pay-to-enter lounges Plane Food is amazing. (of course there are no pay-to-enter lounges at T5).

I'll be in the Concorde Room in a few weeks time again, but ultimately it's still just a waiting room for a metal tube to a destination.
