    Booked online?

    Tickets for each flight.

Security at both airports (may need to change terminal).

You won't collect your case at Heathrow. LA will be the next place you see it. Hopefully!

    Heathrow is a hellhole!

If by tikcet you mean boarding pass, then yes, you'll get two of those in Newcaste, one for each flight.

I don't know what the other poster means by LHT being a hellhole. You'll be transisting through terminal 5 which is a new terminal with very nice facilities IMO.

If your flights are all on the same booking, your luggage should go all the way through to LA.

Check which terminal your flight from NCL arrives into, you may have to do a transfer to another terminal and if your flight to LA leaves from T5, I don't think it's a hell-hole at all, I like it. The shops are a bit up-market but I'm told the food in the restaurants is nice (have not tried them myself as always used one of BA's lounges) but Plane Food is supposed to be nice - a bit pricey I might imagine as it's a Ramsey place but as a pre-flight treat, you might want to splurge.

Yes flights are all on same booking and we fly from terminal 5 but not sure what terminal we land at

I looked at the BA lounges but looked like you had to be flying business or silver / gold member

Id like to go in lounge if possible

You'll have one ticket, but two sets of boarding cards when you arrive in NCL.

On arrival into LHR follow the purple signs for transfers, up the escalator and through a second security check. You will not be changing terminals.

T5 is an excellent airport - new, clean, lots of shops and easy to get to the gates.

You'll likely depart from T5B gates which is a short train ride under the terminal - only takes a few minutes.

LA is a long flight - have you considered upgrading to World Traveller Plus? You might get a cheap upgrade option by logging into BA.com and looking.
Extra space, better food, more luggage.

An added bonus is the changing to WTP will book your domestic leg into Business-UK which will give you lounge access at Newcastle on the way out, and lounge access in T5 on your return flight. This would mean you could land in from LA then get a proper breakfast and a shower for free in the excellent T5 lounge complex.

Thats sound excellant going to look into that

How much roughly is the upgrade as until i get home aint a clue
  • Definitely worthwhile trying to upgrade to World Traveller Plus (premium Economy). It's a much smaller cabin, less than 40 passengers. More room and better food.

Are you sure? My last WTP flight, the domestic leg, EDI to LHR was ticketed as ECONOMY.

    BTW T5 is great.

Yes I'm sure. On the domestic legs there is only an economy product, but by virtue of your WTP leg your domestic leg is booked into 'business-UK' which is the full fare economy ticket. This full fare ticket comes with lounge access.

BA don't tend to advertise this - its an oddity of the booking system that WTP domestic connecting flights book into business-UK.
