Improving website ranking in google - ideas?

Funny that, someone searches for an old thread to make a recommendation that is in no way related to them. Call me cynical...

Haha... thanks... well... we do get enquiries from the site - and plenty of visits but i still cant see it on the 1st few pages... dont know why... i am starting to think that it may be due to the free hosting i changed to a couple of years ago... as before that the site was on the 2-3 page and now i cant see it, despite having profiles in many directories, having google +, google map profile, yell profile etc etc, a few back links... but hey we do get enquiries - so i guess its not that bad? Thanks

The cheap web hosting will be a factor, but also consider the domain name registration. Renew it for a few years more so google knows you are not just here for today but here for a few years yet.

Any chance of seeing your website so that we could point you further directions?

Also, don't expect miracles to happen overnight - It can take 6 months up to a year to notice real improvements in ranking. So although you might be known for keyword a now, keyword b might take longer and keywords c even longer.

As said, knowing your website could allow others to help you further with it.
