One more thing, don't put your content in flash animations or similar. Google won't see this at all.
I've seen horrible websites containing only flash and then they wondered why they will not be found on Google...
Apart from this:
- Content, content, content...
- Backlinks, backlinks, backlinks. Get as many other websites to link to your site as possible, preferably with the keywords you want to be found under close to the link. But don't take part in any paid or unpaid link exchanges.
- Unique meta descriptions for every page (very often this will be the text displayed in the three lines underneath the link in the search results)
- Don't bother with meta keywords. No search engine uses them anymore as it got abused by too many people (keyword spamming) and could even have a negative effect.
...
That should be enough for a start ;-)0 -
If you havent got Google Analytics set up, get it installed. If you do have it check keywords and where your traffic is coming from. This can help you decide which words to target and the sources that are important to the business.
Check out Google's keyword tool to identify keywords and to see how many people are searching for them. Make sure you choose UK and understand the difference between the stats you get back i.e. broad, phrase and exact.
Set up some google alerts for your keywords so you can see who your competition is and what they are writing about.0 -
The biggest factor is backlinks. That is, links to your site, from another site. Backlinks should:
- be one way ideally, don't link back to other sites that link to you unless you have to. Google doesn't value reciprocol links very much.
- be from sites that are related to your content. ie don't ask your friend to link to you from their bicycle shop if you're a florist.
- preferably be from sites that have a reasonable PageRank. Google values backlinks from sites with a high PageRank.
- have good anchor text. Anchor text is the text on the backlink that you see, it ideally should contain some keywords or the keyword phrase that you are targeting.

Good site here for useful tips: http://www.thebandber.com/
My main tip would be contact all the local businesses they know and work with and offer to write a testimonial for their website. In return, under the testimonial, they get a backlink to their website.
Backlinks are the key to ranking in Google.0 -
Nowadays, creating a website, Facebook page and other campaigns online are the trending tools to advertise products and services. Small and huge companies resort to creating websites to promote their products and services to their target market. However, creating one is not the only thing to do. Aside from checking out some designs and creating quality content for your site, you as the designer and creative director should also consider ways to reach out to your target audiences. If you are still wondering why you should increase website traffic, no need to search on it. Simply, the main reason to increase web traffic is to attract more people to know your products and services and become one of the most successful companies or individuals ever.0

First thing, have you identified keywords which generate traffic? No point in spending the time ranking for terms which don't generate traffic.
So... go to Google and search for 'Google Keyword Tool' - this allows you to see how much traffic is being performed on a search term.
You will need to set location to 'United Kingdom' and have only the exact ticked under match types.
So by entering these two terms I can see the search volume:
bed and breakfast london - 6,600 searches
b&b london - 2,900 searches
Google takes the last 12 months of search and divides it by 12 to give an average for a month. So the above figures are monthly searches on an average of the last 12 months.
Now you want to make sure your onsite SEO (search engine optimisation) is optimised for your chosen term(s) Max 3 per title tag.
So something like:
Bed and Breakfast London, B&B London | Company Name
Include your target term in the body of the content where natural maybe 6% density.
And any other elements but make it look natural - H1 tag, body content, alt text on images, if its an inner page your trying to rank then include the term in the url.
Now look at offsite SEO, as your ranking for a location specific term aim for local directories, your after anchor text links from relevant websites.
An anchor text link is a link which has your target term as the link's text.
I will say 10 links from Authoritative websites is better then 100 links from a general link directory.
Hope this helped.0 -
thank you. I have done most of the things suggested above but i have not noticed any improvement. Could it be because i am using free domain and hosting via 000webhost?
When i search worcester bed and breakfast and go through a number of pages i still cant see my site even though i can see it on the map on the first page? Someone mentioned that i dont see the same what other people see. Can someone perhaps tell me if they see Edgefield 'The Grace Tree' B&B when they search for Worcester Bed and Breakfast?
Thank you in advance!0
