Virtual Memory Low???

My system is getting slower and slower of late, it's a Dell Pc and only 2 years old so it should not have too many problems. I have noticed that on occasions I get a Warning virtual memory is low bubble appear. What can I do I really need some help, I upgraded to broadband to improve the speed but my whole system is on a go slow - I checked all the various avenues, changed firewall, anti virus and anti spam to those recommended as the top ones but I think it must be something to do with this virtual memory.
What can I do to return my system to it's former glory???

How often do you reboot ?
    Rich people save then spend.

Download and run CCleaner, that will clear a load of junk off your PC.

You could also try de-fragging your hard disc.

As Crox said how much physical RAM do you have and how much free disc space?

Moving to broadband will speed up your internet connection but will make no difference to the overall speed of your machine.

Look in your system tray (bottom right hand corner normally) have you got many items in there? Every p[rogram in there will be using a bit of memory.

Also when it is running slow start taskmanager (click on start, run and enter tskmgr). Once it has started click on processes then sort by Mem Usage and see whcih processes are using the most memory.
It's my problem, it's my problem

And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die

You probably need more RAM. I'm guessing you've got XP and only 256MB. Get another 512MB. Also, do as the others suggested above.

Have already de-fragged and run a disc clean - made no difference.
Can't find a system tray, where else might it be?
Tried to run tskmgr - says system does not recognise?
