If you move to talktalk and you ever want to go back to a company like o2 or any other company whos on the bt network. It will cost you a fortune to move back.

No it won't provided you're out of contract with TalkTalk. It would just mean signing up to a new 12 month contract with BT (return to donor). But its a moot point...once you've been on full LLU you'd be insane to return to a BT (spit) based service at the same address. LLU operators have far far more bandwidth capacity than BTw based isp's (especially those on BT's 20CN exchanges) so line speed pretty much guaranteed 24/7 and considerably cheaper. If you are desperate to move away from TalkTalk then consider moving to Sky LLU or Tesco LLU that's assuming you have Sky & C&W equipment at your exchange. Both Sky & Tesco allow you to transfer to their LLU services from Talktalk LLU :)

  • Have to say I switched from talktalk last month after only 6 months with them, I joined because I was saving money, but the reality was that my whole household planned to lynch me if I didn't move to another supplier.

A frustrating service despite paying extra for their Pluse package, the speed and connectivity is the worse we hace experienced in 10 years of having broadband.

    Avoid like the plague.

i have just spent over 2hrs with customer services as they been billing me twice a month for 18 month, the lady i got said i was not telling the truth numerous times and refused to let me speak to a supervisor after asking atleast a dozen times and i then got angry which i know she wanted and cut me off, phoned back explained to someone different who did understand english slightly better after 30mins agreed to put me thru to what was meant to be a supervisor but man said he wasnt and was based in scotland and would get a manager to phone me back within 8hrs. he asked if i would accept 3months free to which i said no , then offered me a 6month refund as thats all their policy allows. so now waiting to see if they do phone me back, wont hold my breath.
worst customer services i have ever encountered in my life:mad:

Not always the case, just returned from Sky LLU to Plusnet (BT 21CN) and gained 1mb in speed. All Sky's little fixes such as DLM and MER slowly by surely knocked around 2mb off my speed, but back on good old PPPoA and quite happy.

Was a little worried when Sky stated it would take 10 working days from the line going back to BT before the Broadband Tags would clear, but this was another little "SKY Lie" to try and stop me going through with it. Sky went off on Friday and BT/Plusnet went live on Sunday with BB on at the same time.

O2 are offering free broadband only pay for line (which works out as £13/month in my case - cost of my line) to existing customers who are leaving them! If you call 0800 230 0202 and choose 5/3/2 (I think, an option when leaving) & tell them you are leaving you might get lucky! Can anyone tell me if TalkTalk's fiber optic comes as standard (with their "essentials" package?) or at an extra? We have had fibre installed in South London a few months back! TalkTalk says their speed is "up to 5-15meg" - does "meg" stand for megabites or megabits (latter being 8 times slower than the former)?

By the way, that leaving deal is only enforceable it appears if you sign up elsewhere THEN phone them!

I've had Sky and now with O2 and can say that O2 is by far more pleasant to work with in comparison; resolves things fast and via British phone reps and internet is 17mbits (up to 2mb) up and 1mbit down (though would like higher for the up)!

No, fibre is never 'standard'! Essentials is a standard LLU ADSL service. Fibre is a higher cost tariff, where available.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
