leaving o2 for Talk Talk - good choice?

I've just moved house and phoned O2 regarding transfering my old O2 broadband legacy package. After reading other threads in here I knew they would say they couldn't transfer that package so I was interested what they would offer. So they offered my the O2 Works package as I like to do some peer to peer downloading and on line gaming and it's the only package which isn't traffic shaped. The best price they would give me was £19 per month including line rental.
I then phoned Talk Talk who also said they don't traffic shape and unlimited downloads. They offered me 12 months with line rental for £13.75 per month. (line rental paid up front).
So I think I am going with Talk Talk which will save me over £5 month. Any comments on whether this saving is worth it?

If you want to save money by cutting out decent customer services then go ahead, as someone whom escaped from TalkTalk I would avoid them with a barge pole.

    Have you tried Plusnet?

  • DON'T DO IT! £5 a month is a small price to pay for a decent BB service with proper customer care not idiots reading from scripts in a sweat room in some far flung country where english is perhaps 10th on the language list!

TalkTalk have consistently appalling customer service, chaotic billing, iffy practices with respect to pursuingamoun ts not evenduentothem via debt collectiors and a seeming total inabaility to sort anything out if it all goes wrong, which it is very likely to do............

Cheap for a reason, can only say don't do it - unless you enjoy endless battles with your ISP about every aspect of their service!

Bearing in mind Talk Talk lost 180,00 BB customers over the last 1/4, I think they are best avoided.

Why leave one of the best rated ISP's for one of the worst?

    We've been with Tiscali/TalkTalk since 2005.

Any problem we've had has been swiftly resolved.

  • Nothing wrong with talktalk llu provided you stick with forum support. Great for gaming, line speeds 24/7 and generally very good. However be aware that they they throttle P2P even on their Plus package...its the only protocol they throttle. The P2P throttling is done on a dynamic basis ie depends on how congested your exchange is at that time. Its probably not an issue if you're a light P2P downloader but if you leave your pc running 24 hrs a day downloading p2p torrents then probably not a good idea to switch to talktalk.

I've been with TalkTalk for 2 months, no problems, billing correct, good service.
Broadband speed is as promised, 7mb.
So far so good. I changed to them from Virgin who were far worse. I've saved a fortune by changing.
Don't be put off, every ISP has problems, you have to speak as you find.

The customer service that I have experienced from Talktalk was appalling, WOULD NOT RECOMMEND and trying to leave was a nightmare :(

If you move to talktalk and you ever want to go back to a company like o2 or any other company whos on the bt network. It will cost you a fortune to move back.
