DH spent £50 ish on last night. Although we have sep accounts and our 'own' money, we are still both saving for the MFW dream so regardless of who's pocket/ bank it comes from doesn't really matter -it's still being spent and wasn't very :money: - ...BUT we haven't had a night out in a while though, so I'm mentally moving it to the justified box
Blessings :A-
I've had a very thought provoking week about what I really want to do with my career/life (the thoughts have been increasing over last 12 months tbh)- do I actually want to continue in my current role (which in all honesty I don't really enjoy a lot of the time - but tolerate because of the £££ for the most part) or try and find something I love and work to change things - regardless of the £££ and inevitable huge drop.
I don't think the answer will be forthcoming soon - will require a lot of mulling over, research and chats with DH I suspect.
Whatever I decide - what has really hit home this week is that I (we) are truly in a very fortunate place - and no matter how bad things are work wise - we both have good, stable jobs, happiness and more importantly than any of that we (and our family/friends) have our health.
Ramblings - I think I have probably covered off this section adequately in blessings

DH is away from tom tom Monday

Blessings :A-
I feel v lucky to have such special friends in my life :grouphug:. We all lead such busy lives, but almost always make time (Tue eve) for coffee/cake and a catch up on the weeks events , plus usually a little planning of the social calendar

Ramblings
The house we fell in love with last year and put 3 offers on (all rejected, so we walked away as we couldn't afford any more at the time and didn't want to borrow anymore from my parents than we had planned) - was removed from the market late Nov. The estate agent confirmed they had removed from the market for Xmas but would be advertised again in the NY. Still waiting currently
The good is that we can now afford to make an offer that we are pretty certain would secure it (including loan of ~40k from my parents) hence I'm impatient for them to re advertise it
BUT by October this yr we would have enough saved to do it ourselves and not borrow from my parents - so half of me wants them to wait till summer before they advertise again
Hopefully this year will be the year for us - desperately ready to move and officially start our MFW journey :cool:April 14 Deposit Target: [STRIKE]£31,660[/STRIKE] £35038/67,620 -[STRIKE] 46.82%[/STRIKE] 51.81% (£15582 to save + £17k from car sale)

I'm following with excitement: watching your signature and waiting for the dream house to come back onto the market. Are you keeping in regular contact with the estate agents, so that you're ready to pounce?
Fingers crossed for you that it doesn't come back on at a ridiculously inflated price!
:T Well done with the £7K raise BTW, will that help more with the deposit in the short term or mortgage in the long-term, do you think?
"mentally moving it to the justified box" - I like this expression and although I feel your pain I'm glad it's not just me mentally justifying OH's not so MSE actions!

Thanks Hbbb
No we haven't stayed in contact, 2 reasons really.... Firstly they are a 'virtual' EA not local and aren't that close to the vendor (I.e it's a call centre type environment when you call and the info they have is from a screen) .....Secondly, because we made 3 offers, all rejected ,we don't want the EA to know we are still interested just in case the vendor up's the price, based on our interest, when he puts back on the market (which he may do anyway and is one of our worries
) ...... So we are 'patiently' waiting for it to re appear
Yep 7k will defo help now (dep) and when we r officially on our 'MF' journey :TApril 14 Deposit Target: [STRIKE]£31,660[/STRIKE] £35038/67,620 -[STRIKE] 46.82%[/STRIKE] 51.81% (£15582 to save + £17k from car sale)

Hellooo!
It's so frustrating having to wait to get on properly with things, we're in the same boat here and it's now looking like it'll be at least a year or two to truly get on the MFW path despite coming sooo close last year. (Arrggh!)
I hope the house works out (or something even better comes along!), I'm so looking forward to hearing what happens - you're in the same part of the country as me and I would LOVE to have a stint living out in the peak district, it's so beautiful out there. :smileyhea Mr M has it in mind as well, and every time he mentions it I always end up looking at houses on rightmove and daydreaming. :rotfl: I would love to shop at a certain farm shop every week
Think it might have to be a retirement plan the way things are going though(!)
We seem to be in the same place with rethinking career/life things as well! Good luck with it, it's such a slow process isn't it? I suppose it's for the best, gently shifting through the rubbish and working out for sure what you truly want... we'll get there eventually, it isn't half hard work though!a penny picker upper. MFW approx 78% to go | FIRE 3 years worth (30% savings rate: now aiming for 40%!) | Normality is a paved road; it's comfortable to walk, but no flowers grow on it | Whatever you're meant to do, do it now. The conditions are always impossible | The only thing you absolutely have to know, is the location of the library0 -
Hi PM - frustrating indeed, but I try and look on the bright side
in that we are in a great position and very lucky (financially) compared to many people In the UK+ I really love the house we are in currently - so shouldn't really complain
Plus ( like you by the sounds) I also have a 'mild' addiction to RM :rotfl:- have alerts set up
and check daily - so hoping we don't miss anything
What happened to mf quest last year?? Fingers crossed for you soon though!!
Re career - definitely a slow process. For me I'm fumbling in The dark trying to figure things out..... And then even IF i miraculously manage to find the light switch, gotta have the courage to turn it on! Ugh - all so confusing! :cool:April 14 Deposit Target: [STRIKE]£31,660[/STRIKE] £35038/67,620 -[STRIKE] 46.82%[/STRIKE] 51.81% (£15582 to save + £17k from car sale)

Where has this week gone
MFW/Deposit Goodness :money:-
4 x surveys completed
-
£20 saving on eye test today just by goggling to check if there were any offers available for scriv3ns

-
DH needed eye test (he works in IT and is never away from a laptop/ipad/PS4) - managed to get his free with 'recommend a friend' + I get £20 m&s vouchers :T
-
Budget still to plan :j and spending is being tracked within an inch of its life :rotfl:
-
Ordered a nectar card, linked it with 3bay and British G Elec and Gas acc
-
DH clubcard arrived, registered and opted for virg1n airmiles as reward - gets 2500 just for just opting in
-
Renewed car ins, haggled and saved £45. I could have gotta little cheaper elsewhere it tbh Ax a were fab when sorting my claim last year - so I did really want to stay!
The Good :T-
Treated BFF to lunch yesterday and had a really lovely catch up
-
BFF is 9 weeks pregnant with 3 mini me
-
DH is now only away Sat (instead of Fri-Mon) - I do wish he had a more structured and planned work life sometimes tho
-
Organised 2 x iPhones (work/personal)and my ipad to within an inch of their lives - all now have the same format and are unified

-
in add to above,
1. I've synced one note with all apple devices and laptop so my 'To Do' list is always to hand :T
2. Discovered Cloudon :T (free app allows you to use /edit Microsoft office on Apple devices) so this lead to creating a drop box acc and saving my beloved pennies £££ s/sheet to it - hey presto access to s/sheet thro all apple devices and synced in drop box via the cloud so no faffing with version control - I was sooooo excited :rotfl:
The Not so Good -
BFF pregnancy (not meant awfully but....)- she is quite ill with a condition that means she is horrendous pain and will be in a wheelchair before long. I'm so v worried for her as she can't take the copious amounts of pain control she needs whilst pregnant and I'm worried how mentally and physically she will cope with a 3rd when he/she arrives

-
£40 spent on replacement printer (classed as a need though)
-
£30 spent on lunch with BFF, can't regret it though, she needed a little pick me up - she's in a not so great place currently (mentally) and struggling

Blessings :A
I saw the sky (blue!), I opened up my eyes and saw the sky (blue!) - Ace of base, can't remember the song name for the life of me!

Well done with the continuing good works!
Linking up the nectar card is a good move, I never bothered much with mine but since I linked it to Fleabay about 6 months ago my points have started to build up a bit (I buy my printer ink cartridges off there etc).
Speaking of which, did you check the ink prices first before buying the printer? I just ask because Mr Hbbb bought us a printer a while back & was so keen on the features he wanted (wireless printing, scanning etc) he forgot to check ink usage & cost. So we are now stuck with a bargain printer which costs about £30 a time to get new inks and throws a hissy fit if you don't use the correctly branded cartridges
Love the extreme sync-info, really must do this and get organised!
