  • Hi Muser - Thanks for stopping by again :)
    We are looking to buy near and around the crooked spire town - hopefully in a little hamlet/village that feels very 'countrified' but isn't too far from the M1 (both need for work) or Chesterfield itself. We have found the perfect place and now have enough $$ to make an offer (again) we are pretty sure they will accept , just need them to put it back on the market :cool: :mad:

    Work has been marginally improved to yesterday - which I'm thankful for i suppose :undecided

    No real MF (or should i say deposit) inroads made today tbh
    • NSD
    • Tinkered with $$ s/sheet - this is becoming an obsession, must stop :o
    Will try and have a relaxing night after I've been to fat club to get weighed :eek:

  • MFW/DEP progress;
    Managed to get an extra 'free' 2500 Vir9in air miles today :T
    Both DH and I have vir9in credit cards to save the air miles ( we like our holidays) - anyhow email received today to confirm if I auto opt in mt Mr T club card for airmiles (instead of voucher) , I get 2500 instantly :D
    Works well we rarely shop at Mr T anyway :)
    Need to get DH to sign up for clubcard when he returns so he can take advantage as well.

    Also have a 'free' spending app that I use - spent £1.98 to upgrade which gives a little more functionality but more imp I can export in CSV format and start tracking it in my 4th love (after DH & pooches) , my £££ s/sheet :j
    Sad sad sad I know, think I'd better get some sleep :p

    Happy Friday eve everyone!

    Habibiboo (Hbbb) - as already confessed :o I'm cheekily stealing your format :p

    MFW/Deposit Goodness :money::
    Feb budget finalised - strict palm to stick to it :cool:
    Quick shop around for car ins but need to take another look

    The Good :T
    Friday & Payday tomorrow :beer: :dance:
    2lb lost at fat club (fluke - but I'll take whatever I can)

    The not so Good :eek:
    Spent £1.90 on choc muffins today :shhh:

    Blessings :A
    DH is home tomorrow night - he's only been gone 5 nights ( in our little world that's not that long vs many other times he's away) but I've missed him terribly :o

    Ramblings :whistle:
    I've been toying with the idea of trying to grow some veg/salad/fruit this year - (Tilly, hbbb and other seem really successful at it) however there are multiple hurdles I'm unsure how to overcome :(
    I'm not in the slightest 'green' fingered person - I can kill a cactus :rotfl:
    Two dogs that are left in the garden sometimes - eat/destroy things??
    No where to put raised beds (rented so wouldn't want to install anyway) - do I even need them?
    Could I get a 'portable' little green house - the ones with plastic covers
    Where do I even start on learning about planting, in what and when and how to look after? Is there a dummy guide? :doh:
    Manyyy questions :undecided

    Hi hun,

    I like this book http://www.amazon.co.uk/RHS-Grow-Your-Own-Horticultural/dp/1845332938/ref=sr_1_5?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1391174032&sr=1-5&keywords=carole+garden+book Grow Your Own Veg. But go and borrow some books from the library before buying any to see what you like :)

    I've found strawberries and raspberries easy to grow and I can kill catcus' too!
    How about growing in big pots? You'll need to keep on top of watering but the dogs won't be able to dig them up.

    Lots of luck :)
    Currently studying for a Diploma - wish me luck :)

    Many thanks SmlS - i'm not actually a member of the library (kindle convert) - but the book is on fleabay for 0.99 +1.99 postage :T so i shall give it a whirl :D
    Big pots area good idea, just my inexperience of having a clue what you can actually grow in them...
    I think i need to grab the book (s) and have a read, try and decide what I'd like to grow (if it's feasible ) or what I'm able to grow with garden/doggy restrictions and take it from there :j

    TGI Friday

    MFW/Deposit Goodness :money:
    Signed up (and completed first 3x surveys) to Glob@l Test Market, YouG0v & Valu3d Op - a bit of checking round indicated they were the most popular for ease and payments? Will see how i go on, hoping to do one (ish) a day for each M-F whilst sat on the invetable monotony of con calls ;)
    Ordered a bargainous book from ebay http://www.amazon.co.uk/RHS-Grow-You...le+garden+book to help me in my quest to grow some of our own fruit/veg this summer :D (thanks again for the tip SmlS)
    Payday and all money is moved into appropriate accounts/pots :j
    Shopped around for car ins (don't have 100% valid quotes annoyingly as renewal is over 31 days away) - but currently£10 cheaper than last year, which is great as i've had a bump, not my fault though - honest:o and £25 cashback thro £co

    The Good :T
    Friday :beer::T
    Payday :dance::dance::dance::dance::dance:

    The Not so Good :eek:
    Wet wet weather! 2 hour dog training session at 10am tomorrow (which is good) but i will need double layer waterproofs the rate it's lashing down today :(

    Blessings :A
    DH home :j
    Bread baking, smells wonderful :)

    Ramblings :whistle:
    Feeling a little of many things today after a truly horrific week at work (THE worst i can remember in quite some time). The company i work for are in general fab, there's a close knit community with everyone having extreme dedication & some fun along the way + they pay us well. Unfortunately there is a fundamental area of our services business which is failing (spectacularly) at present - the business are aware and have been addressing this for ~6 months. Unfortunately the awareness and action plans thus far has not yielded the desired results and we are at crisis point, added to that the BU in question has a direct impact, daily, on me and my clients :doh:
    Anyhow aside from that, thank the lord it's Friday and I'm really a little excited to get my hands on the growing your own veg book - although this wont' be till next week :(

    Happy Friday all!

    Was v pleased to get up this morning and find it not to be raining :T
    2 hours dog training in the relative dry :j (except the minor incident of slightly falling in a stream :rotfl::o)

    Jobs today:
    [STRIKE]Order v expensive dog food :eek: for youngest pooch (ibs and the only stuff she gets on with) [/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE]Dog training [/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE]Buy eggs from village (cream eggs included in this also :D) [/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE]Hoover [/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE]Order co op reward card[/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE]Remind DH to advertise his car!! :mad:[/STRIKE]
    Order nectar card

    Cornbeef hash is on the menu for tonight's dinner and then off to the village pub for a few drinks with some friends - I feel suitably justified as January has been drier than a dry thing in the desert :rotfl:

    Found you!

    J, pots and bags are indeed a good idea for growing your salads etc. raised beds are also helpful where the dogs are concerned - not only prevents their accidental digging up of your veggies but also their free-range peeing on your harvest too!
    Mind you, it's our boy who used to be the one to try this (hence raised beds now) ... you might be OK with your girls!

    Excellent personalisation of the format BTW, love it! :T

    Thanks ;) - i am going to start small i think this year i think and see what i can grow in pots/mini green house (hopefully reasonably dog proof) - once i get my book that gives me idiot proof instructions that is :D ....... Will start small purely because we are rented currently and hopefully moving to the 'forever house' this year - so will sort raised beds etc after moving - if indeed i have found by then i'm capable of growing anything instead of killing :rotfl:)
