Thanks for that, so can we assume that when weve seen them actually press a button......its to get the total(presumably from the sub-total), as a few of us have definately seen another button being pressed, and coupons that previously beeped......then dont.

This is what happens, sometimes with some coupons, the till won't let it go through unless the total button has been pressed. Others, such as double points will scan at any time during the shop, same as the actual clubcard.

By the way, I went shopping for clothes today and with my staff discount and various coupons, only paid £17 for £50 of clothes.:j We did try scanning more coupons but it wouldn't let any more go through. I don't have a problem with trying more coupons as I know all the checkout operators and they know I would do the same for them:D

i always wait for them to tell me the total before i hand over the vouchers so im presuming thats why ive not had a problem with the 'pressing a button' situation?

I decided to stop by Tesco, thinking that it was after 12 and it would be empty! WRONG! Trolley loads full and only two cashiers! Argh! Oh well I thought, nothing ventured, nothing gained.

    Purchased:

Always Freshelle (for the 100 point till spits points) £1.57
4 x Original Source body scrub £7.88 (BOGOF)
    2 x Alberto conditioner £1.96 (BOGOF)

Total £11.41 before discount, £6.49 after discounts

I used: £2.50 so beautiful, £2 HB, 2 x £1.25 QK. Nice freebies, leaving 51p towards the rest of my shop!

Only used one other manufacturer coupon for a product I purchased and 1 50 pointer as the queues were getting longer and longer! It's been so long since I have done a HB shop and it'll all be over soon. SA was very friendly and just said 'that's fine, hand them all over' Should have used more, but didn't want to hold the queue up any longer than necessary.

  • Now after my recent success, of paying pounds for a 20 pound shop I decide to experiment.

First shop no problems. Second shop.. DOH! Got a little nervous runt, who read the terms on every coupons and only would accept 1 x 2.50, 1 x 2, 1 x 2 as 2 x 1 pound. The bill came to 13 quid,, what!! Ive never seen such a high amount!!!! To make matter worse the other 1 x 2.50 would not scan?? WHY?? I decide to stray away from my usual and buy some waxing strips (thebrow is getting...well its only one...DOH) and some nivea BOGOF to make it up to a tenner. Why did this voucher bleep??

Now i know other MSE's probably havn't tried this combo and to make matters worse, no DM vouchers accepted.

Think the plates will be going back... the SA runt doesn't understand 'the furnish my future house for free' game very well!!!

    Come on play the game!

But as a true MSE i just smilled, returned my vouchers to my wallet and thought I'd be back... and next next time WIN!!!

    first the bad news

went to tesco last night spent £30 just on shampoo etc plus rest of shopping
came to £60 the girl we always use coupon happy would only take 8.75 worth of coupons, that was including the 3.50 from mail. I think things are changing.

now the good news until we get a call from the police!!!!!!!!!!
daughter no 1 noticed a couple of health and beauty vouchers in the car park
so made me stop so she could pick them up, then decided we should take
a drive round the car park looking for more. Daughter no 2 sat in the back going mad about what we were up to . Well we ended up getting 12 complete
sets and no doubt on tescos cct so if you see us on crime watch don't be
alarmed at least we have another 300 points each.
at this point can I just point out the daughter no 1 is 30years old.
